Ice pack after Sculpsure

Question

Will ice packs slow down the process of fat elimination? I use it after my first Sculpsure treatment because my skin was tender, I also have red marks. Thank you!

This is a good question! Thank you for the great question.  I am sure many people are also wondering the same thing.  It works by heat destroying fat cells and tightening the skin but the laser only penetrates so far and does not go through deeper structures well. The icepack is okay to use as the damage is done during treatment. There is some conflicting research on the use of NSAIDS that reduce inflammation after the procedure but nothing about ice use. If you have any further questions I recommend that you follow up with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has cosmetic training or experience with sculpsure.

In my opinion, it would be fine to use a cool ice pack on and off to an area treated with SculpSure.  The cooling should not diminish your results.

If ice pack provides you comfort, then you should use it.   A day of ice on surface of your skin will not influence the fat cells that were destroyed by the SculpSure.  Good luck!

Short term us of ice should be fine to help with heat in the skin or during your immediate recovery.

No- it is fine to use an icepack after your sculpsure treatment but be sure to gently massage the area twice daily and stay well hydrated.  This will allow your body's lymphatics (drainage system) to clear inflammation as well as destroyed fat cells.  I often recommend a lymphatic massage session a few days after sculpsure treatment to also mobilize fluids and inflammation.

Ice packs will not delay or inhibit the process.  They may help with any temporary discomfort.  The process of cell destruction and reabsorption takes place over an extended period of time.

ice packs will not affect your final result. if they make you feel better than definitely use them. you can enhance your final result by increased exercising and dieting. plan at least 2 sculpsure sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. you will continue to improve for 3 months after the last session.david berman md
