My hair growth rate is faster after my second session compared to my first laser session. It has been a week since I completed my 2nd session. The doctor reduced the intensity from 50 to round 40-45 since I was unable to withstand the pain. Could this be a result of lower intensity or is there some other reason attributed to this?
Answer: Laser Hair Removal Thank you for your question in regards to laser hair removal. Our hair grows in different phases which is why a series of laser treatments are required for reduction. With only having two treatments it is to soon to determine what your results will be. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Laser Hair Removal Facts--takes a series of treatments It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. I typically have patients do laser hair removal every 4 weeks for the first 3 times and then every 4-6 weeks for 3 times after. This schedule gives great results with hair removal. Some patients do require treatments, every 3-12 months, to maintain results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser hair removal expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Hair growing back faster after second laser hair removal treatment Good question, to answer it specifically I would say that the "time to regrowth" after each session varies and does not really reflect result rather it reflects how many of the hairs at time of treatment were in the "active" versus "sleep" stage. Sometimes the hairs that are left (not killed or damaged) after each treatment grow back at different rates. As long as you are seeing progress of thinning and reduction (with a proper amount of redness and swelling around the follicle) after each treatment, then it should be working. However, without having done your treatment myself or examining you, i cannot say for sure that it was not an "under"treatment. I would discuss this with your provider. Always feel free to seek out a second opinion but make sure to choose an expert provider at a physician's office which specializes in hair removal, as there are a ton of "places that do laser hair removal" but few that really do it well. Hope that helps!

Answer: Hair growing back at a faster rate after 2nd laser session? Hello, thank you for your question. Laser hair reduction is a series of treatments, usually 6-8 treatments done between 4-8 weeks apart, depending on the area(s) being treated. You cannot determine to effectiveness of the treatments after just 2 treatments. Stick with the series of treatments as recommended and you should see a significant reduction in the re-growth of hair. Laser hair reduction is just that, it may never be 100%, and it will probably not last forever. It may be necessary to do occasional touch ups throughout the year.Good Luck!
