Do you always need to redo veneers after crown lengthening?

I got crown lengthening thinking I’ll need to redo my veneers afterward, but I don’t see the point. The periodontist said she can see the root of the tooth and needs to be redone but I can barely see it. Not sure if she’s working with my dentist on this and being honest with me.
