I had bilateral breast reduction exactly one month ago. My scars are healing very well except for my left breast. I’m having a hard time healing by the T-junction and I can’t get into my doctors office until next Wednesday. What do you suggest I put on it ointment wise and also should I put a bandage on the wound or let it breathe?

Answer: Treatment of open wounds after reduction If you ask ten plastic surgeons this you will likely get ten different answers. There are many ways to treat small open wounds like you have. This is the most common location for this to happen as well following reduction. I typically have my patients wash the area twice daily with gentle soap and a wash cloth to remove the exudate (greenish film) and apply a thin layer of bacitrain ointment with a non-stick bandage. For wounds that are larger, or that have a bit more drainage, I often use silver algenate. I would recommend calling your surgeon's office and asking his/her preference. I am sure they will be happy to help you manage this :)
