Empty nose syndrome after nose job. Is nose augmentation is the cause of Hyperventilation?

I got a nose job 3 month ago. The surgeon put 4.3 mm silicone implant for the bridge and ear cartilage for the tip. And he also built my columella using my nasal cartilage. Generally I am not happy with the result. My nose looks weird, and now I thought I have hyperventilation which I never had before. I always feel lack of oxygen and breathing too much. Is it the side effect of nose job? Can I breathe normal again? Please help.

Hyperventilation not a direct result of nose job. However, I am not a fan of silicone implants which ultimately are at high risk of infection and extrusion as they never integrate. If you ever do a revision (no photos to judge your results), I would ask to have the silicone implant replaced with diced costal cartilage.

Hi Summer,Your discrimination of the surgery is extraordinary courage on the part of surgeon to combine silicone implant with cartilage graft from your nose but the complains of empty nose syndrome cant be explained with this surgery.American Rhinology society has some thing like this to say on this syndrome .WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF EMPTY NOSE SYNDROME?Patients reporting to suffer from empty nose syndrome often complain of nasal dryness, the sensation of nasal obstruction in spite of having large nasal airways, feelings of both obtaining too much dry, cold air, and not being able to inhale a satisfactory nasal breath, and some patients complain of suffocation symptoms that affect their ability to sleep. Patients with empty nose syndrome may also suffer from other co-morbidities, such as severe depression, anxiety, and/or other psychiatric conditions that can either be present before surgery or begin at the same time as their ENS symptoms. I am sure in period of time it will resolve or your PS can fix it may be 6 months after surgery.
