Finasteride shed vs hair cycle?

Question

When taking finasteride, it is commonly believed that the miniaturized thin hair hair would shed and be replaced by a new thicker (de-miniaturized) immediate hair. Now, will this immediate hair 's anagen phase last 2-6 years before it would shed again ? Or will it shed very quickly and regrow a thicker hair until the follicle reached its original healthy state ?

Finasteride can cause a hair shed at 2 to 3 months that can last up to two to four months in duration. Once the new hair is in place, it should last for several years. Finasteride tends to prolong anagen and the hair should  continue to grow. Good luck.Jeff Rapaport MD FAADRealself All-star

Shedding is different in men and women (women have longer anagen cycles as can grow longer hair). Finasteride does not usually impact the timing of the initial cycle, but it might prolong anagen
