Orthodontist wants me to wear the Invisalign aligner trays for 1 week instead of 2 weeks.

Question

How unusual is it to wear trays for 1 week only? Please confirm to me if that's recommended and/or safe. He said it's becoming a new practice with Invisalign.

its good news for you, as per new research by invisalign , tray is enough by 7days so protocol changed from two week to one week.

Your orthodontist is correct.  Invisalign recently changed recommended tray wear time is SOME cases (not all).  Since you apparently fit the new criteria your treatment should progress even faster.  Good News.

With new companies coming out, with competition, some of the selling points were faster tray advancement.  Invisalign recently changed their methods to allow changing aligners every week instead of every two.  This is in part to teeth moving  better, as well as designing the aligners to move less per aligner.So, YES, your doctor is right.  One aligner per week is the new method.
