The common reason for open bite relapse is because the front teeth are extruded to close the bite.  Even with fixed wire retainers, there is nothing preventing the teeth from intruding again.Generally, using Invisalign, there is little to no relapse with proper retention because the bite is usually closed by intruding the posterior teeth. Again, this treatment will work well if your doctor is experienced in treating open bites with aligners.  Good luck!

There are two keys to having proper stability after your treatment is completed.1.  Your upper jaw appears to be narrow.  This can and should be corrected with widening, before braces in order to create a proper base for your teeth.  Then braces or Invisalign can correct the open bite.2.  Your tongue is likely not posturing ideally and probably the cause of your open bite.  The important thing here is to eliminate the poor tongue posture, either while in a resting state or when swallowing.  The widening of the upper jaw talked about in #1 will have a positive effect on creating more room for your tongue which will allow for the stability to be possible.Without both of these requirements, no retainer will work long term.  Good luck to you.
