There are 2 ways of doing fractora rf,: 1 is lightly at 5-8 treatments roughly 2 weeks apart and the 2nd way is to get it done aggressively with local anesthesia where you have about 3-4 days downtime. Most patients only need 1-2 treatments. This makes a huge improvement and quickly. It is so worth it.
Fractora is a form of microneedling that uses radiofrequency to heat the treated target tissues, causing tightening. It may also resurface the skin depending on how it’s done. The effect of microneedling with radiofrequency depends on a number of factors, including the length of needles used and whether or not those needles are coated. The choice of needles used and the settings depends on what specifically is being targeted. This affects whether or not the surface of the skin is treated in addition to the deeper layer(s). Treatments that affect the more superficial layers of the skin, resurface the skin by a different mechanism than fractional lasers do, but still resurface skin in a fractional way. The tiny heated puncture wounds caused by the pins stimulate wound healing and collagen formation and shrink the areas that they have contacted. These treatments, like any other tissue tightening or resurfacing procedures cause microscopic tissue injuries and that’s why they work. Therefore they require a healing time. This usually corresponds to a full skin renewal cycle of approximately 6 weeks. In general, only 1 to 2 Fractora treatments is required. Fractora is not a technology that is done over and over. It is a corrective technology rather than one for prevention and maintenance. A board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist experienced in Fractora can assess you and determine which type of treatment is appropriate for your needs and skin type.
Thanks for your question. Fractora mimics trauma to the skin, and it needs time to heal before results are seen. Reinforcing that trauma would not be effective, therefore 6-8 weeks between treatments is ideal.Best,Anil Shah MD
When a Fractora treatment is done it produces a degree of injury to the tissue that then needs time to heal to produce the improvement. If the skin and underlying tissue is injured without allowing it to heal fully, this can cause damage. Performing the treatment to the same area a week apart would not allow enough healing time in between treatments.
Thanks for your question and your photos. While your treatment does seem more on the aggressive side, your skin's reaction is normal. Your skin will be red with some blood and fluid coming from the holes made by the needles. Do not touch these areas and wash your face with a gentle cleanser...
Thank you for your question. Yes it is normal to have swelling and pin point holes post Fractora. Continue to follow up with your provider as the healing process can take up to 3 weeks.
Great question! A couple of things to consider. Since fractora is a deeper treatment, and due to heat more intense then let's say Vampire Facial, the numbing cream could have been to weak, the application could have been wrong, number of times it was applied... No doctor was present on site to...
