Which Facial Resurfacing should I have? (Photo)

Question

Which type of resurfacing on face, neck & chest will remove the wrinkles, shrink my pores and tighten my skin and give my skin a new glowing look? I'm really not in love with the invasive laser procedure but if that is what I have to do, so be it. What about the Erbium Laser Treatment? Wrinkles around my lips are terrible, I can't use a lip liner without it bleeding into the skin above my lips. Any recommendations for a Great doctor from Ponte Vedra Florida to Sanford to Port Orange Florida?

Thank you for your question.  There is no single answer for what is the best resurfacing technique for you.  There are hundreds of types of lasers which do resurfacing and there are hundreds of types of chemicals used which can do the same thing.  There are also hundreds of physicians, physician assistants, and estheticians who offer various resurfacing techniques and who will gladly take your money.   I believe that chemical peels offer superior results to laser peels with less risks but I also believe that the skill and experience of the person doing the resurfacing is more important than the modality which is used.  Be careful and choose wisely!  Good luck!

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

Fraxel lasers are among the best for resurfacing the skin and repairing it from the inside, so that it begins to function more like younger, fresher skin. As for your mouth wrinkles, a thin, flexible filler such as Belotero or Volbella, would be best. You can find a great dermatologist by looking at the asds.net website and searching your area. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will get you the most beautiful rejuvenation possible.

1) skin care with products and PRP/microneedling
2) PDT light therapy few times a month with growth factors
3) laser treatments like clear and brilliant regularly and a few times a year Fraxel, Viva, Co2/Erbium
4) Sculptra injections a few times a year for collagen production with fillers like juvederm/restylane/belotero/radiesse/bellafill

Contour TRL is an eribium laser treatment that could help improve the pores and the lines around your lips that concern you. This laser will require about  7-10 days to recover. Lasers can help the neck lines a little bit but a neck lift would be the best procedure to address this area.

There are so many different types of resurfacing out there and I would suggest scheduling an in-person consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to determine which modality is the best. From your photos and your concerns, I would look into the Halo treatment by Sciton. It’s less aggressive than full-field resurfacing but still gives great results. With the latest software upgrade, Halo treatments are now much quicker and more customizable to treat with different depths on the areas you mentioned. Be sure to select an experienced surgeon and ask about Halo by Sciton!

The two main lasers for treating the wrinkles on the face include the CO2 and erbium laser. The CO2 laser leaves your skin whiter. This is not so good for living in Florida because even if you avoid the sun you still have color or pigment on your skin. So if you have laser on your face your skin will have a different color then on your neck. For this reason most surgeons agree that the erbium laser is a better choice. I was told that I was the first person in the world to utilize the sciton erbium laser Or ablative facial rejuvenation ( I do not know this for a fact but one of the first ). The erbium does not permanently change your pigment color. You can use erbium on Caucasian skin, Mediterranean, Hispanic and Asian skin. Initially the skin does turn temporarily pink but returns to normal color. Studies have shown that after the skin has healed there is more collagen and Elastin in the skin. Thank you for your photos. You would be a good candidate for Fractional CO2 but we also use a variety of lasers to treat wrinkles and reduce pore size including EndyMed, Microneedling and Aerolase. Alternatively, you can also use a dermal filler like Belotero for the lip area. It is best to get a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.
