Thank you for your question. For a follicular unit transplantation (FUT) procedure, it is generally recommended that someone accompany you, especially to assist with transportation afterward. Although the surgery is performed under local anesthesia and you will be awake during the procedure, you may be given a mild sedative to help you relax, which can impair your ability to drive safely.

Additionally, having someone with you can be helpful for emotional support and assistance with post-operative instructions, especially during the first few hours following the procedure. If sedation is used, most clinics will require that you have a designated driver before proceeding. If you're not sedated, you may technically be able to drive yourself, but it’s best to confirm the protocol with the surgical team performing the transplant.

I would highly recommend someone driving for you since you might probably feel dizzy and tired after the surgery. Usually, you will be prescribed some sleeping pills during the surgery. Therefore, it is safer that you get a taxi to get home.
