Could 1mg Finasteride (Propecia) affect oral or gum health?

Question

I know many of us will not connect the use of Finasteride with oral or gum problems. And there is no any side effect connected with oral or gum problems listed in Propecia's manual. However, we know that Finasteride changes our hormone levels, while hormone levels could be one of reasons that complicates oral or gum's health. Could daily use of Finasteride for long term cause or complicates the gum or other oral problems?

No, there is no evidence that Finasteride will negatively effect your gums.  I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone which works well with Finasteride. There are no clear side effects on gum health that I am aware. In vitro, it does appear finasteride affects fibroblasts in the model of hereditary gingival fibromatosis. But clinically, I am not aware of any good evidence that users of finasteride experience altered oral health.
