The P-Shot, also known as the Priapus Shot, uses a component of one’s own blood called Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. It is a great option for those who suffer from pain or excess scar tissue of the penis. In many men, the P-Shot has improved the shape and functionality of the patient's penis. The number of treatments a person requires differs from patient to patient. It is worthwhile to try a treatment option that is safe, natural and could improve your quality of life. By calling Accents Cosmetic Surgery (586)254-7692, you can speak to our knowledgeable care coordinators, who will be able to discuss the variety of treatment modalities we offer to enhance sexual wellness. Thanks for the question!
Peyronie’s disease is a condition that results in the formation of scar tissue inside the penis. This scar tissue can cause the penis to curve or bend during an erection. Peyronie’s disease can also lead to erectile dysfunction and pain. While there is no cure for Peyronie’s disease, there are treatments that can improve symptoms and sometimes resolve the condition — but none is as safe as PRP. The Priapus Shot can help to break up existing scar tissue and improve blood flow to the area. This can provide significant relief from Peyronie’s disease symptoms and improve sexual function.
Whether the P-Shot is effective depends on the severity of the injury or bending. A full physical examination is essential to assess the extent of structural damage and rule out other causes of pain. The P-Shot, as a regenerative treatment, may help by promoting healing and improving tissue quality, but results take time—typically 2–3 months—and patience is key.If there’s significant structural damage, other treatments such as acoustic wave therapy, traction devices, or FDA-approved medications like Xiaflex might be necessary. Flexibility in the treatment approach is crucial, as combining modalities often provides the best outcomes. It’s always a matter of degree, and your urologist's recommendation is a great starting point.Best of luck!
Hi.A bent penis during an erection is called Peyronie's disease. If it is mild, it may heal on its own within 15 months. There is no cure for Peyronie's disease; however, the FDA approved Restorex device or a vacuum erection device that stretches the fibrous tissue can help. The FDA has also approved Xiaflex injections to treat the plaques. Platelet rich plasma (P-shot) or platelet rich fibrin (Mojo shot) may also be beneficial in healing the scarred tissue and is worth trying.Hope this helps,Dr. DuPont
Depending on the severity of the bend, and how long term this problem has been, we may start with acoustic wave therapy first, before recommending the P Shot. We have found that in many cases we can reduce pain and discomfort of erections; have erections feel fuller and harder and be easier to achieve and sustain - with acoustic wave treatments. The shock waves seem to soften up the scar tissue and make it easier for the body resorb. We also recommend that men use the pump twice daily during their treatment and for 8 weeks following. Combining the P Shot with acoustic wave treatment seems to give better results than either treatment alone. Surgery will likely result in a shortened penis and possibly other unfavorable outcomes. The P Shot and acoustic wave therapy can give most men results they want with virtually no known side effects.
If you are speaking of Peyronie's (even if "minor" bending is involved) is a pretty serious problem. No question a P shot could help. However we generally strongly encourage multiple modalities to help from the onset. Peyronie's requires it.Hope this helps.
Dear Oximoron,Before the P-Shot, I recommend a full physical examination and diagnostic testing to rule out other serious medical causes for the pain.- Dr. Edward Tangchitnob
PRP releases growth factors that are involved in the healing process and is also suppposed to recruit your stem cells to the area of damage so yes, PRP should help.
Great question. The P-Shot is a form of regenerative medicine. Depending upon the severity of your condition it may well work for you. If your urologist is recommending it he likely feels it worth giving it a try. I very much like that he is avoiding surgery if possible. Keep in mind results do not occur over night. It can take 2 - 3 months to achieve its full benefit. Should you continue to experience the problem there are other forms of regenerative medicine that will likely fix the problem. Among the other treatments available: GainsWave, extracellular matrix, amnio products, Wharton's jelly, stem cells and exosomes. Used alone or in combination these medical products/procedures have remarkable healing ability. As these and newer medications develop and come to market it is estimated that up to 80% of most types of surgery won't be required in the not too distant future. Hope I have helped. Warmly,Arbella Sarkis, MD
I think PRP can help with healing as your urologist recommended. Get evaluated- it's not a complicated procedure and try it.
The P-Shot is generally not recommended for men with penile implants, including those placed for Peyronie’s disease, due to the risk of damaging the implant or causing infection. The altered anatomy makes safe injection difficult, and evidence supporting its use in these cases is limited. H...
