Hello, I had a tummy tuck two years ago, you can see by the photos I still have a good size "Belly bump" I was told this cant be lipo out its inner fat. My question is, is it safe to get lipo on this area and will it make a difference? What happend if my internal sutures are hit? I told my new DR about this he dont seem worried, I know I should trust him but aftter the last dr I am nervous. Thank you
Answer: Lipo safety Liposuction should be safe for you two years after your tummy tuck, but it may not be effective. There are two types of fat in the human body; visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat lies just under the skin. This is the fat that lipo and tummy tucks can both remove. Visceral fat is deeper and protects your internal organs. Neither a lipo procedure nor a tummy tuck revision will remove visceral fat. It’s true that weight loss is the sole solution to visceral fat. The only way to know what you’re working with is to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon. It sounds like you have done this but aren’t entirely confident in his assessment. In that case, I would recommend a second or even third opinion. A second opinion is never a bad idea, and it's vital that you work with a surgeon who you trust and feel comfortable with.

Answer: Intra-abdominal Fat Greetings! There is a layer of fat that protects your organs and it is called intra-abdominal fat/adipose tissue. This layer of fat/adipose tissue can not be liposuction, it can only be minimized by your current diet and exercise. Please feel free to schedule a virtual/in-person consult. Mays Plastic Surgery

Answer: Liposuction Dear ohiotorres614, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If your fat is on the inside of your abdomen, then weight loss will help with it. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Liposuction after TT Two years after TT it would be reasonable and safe to do a liposuction of the area involved in abdominoplasty. The fat collected from that area and around waist may be used for hip/ buttock shaping. Good luck.
