I’m 49 years old, 5’2”, and 110 lbs. I recently asked my doctor about the sagging skin on my neck. He suggested Morpheus8. However he is an oculoplastic surgeon, so his specialty is with the eyes. He also focuses on laser. I’m wondering if the Morpheus8 is the most appropriate procedure for me. Or should I consider other procedures such as a neck lift, mini neck lift, other non-invasive procedures, etc.? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Answer: Best procedure for sagging skin (invasive v. non-invasive) Hello there. This is an excellent question. There are three main causes of facial aging:1. bone loss2. fat pad atrophy (volume loss)3. skin laxityA minimally invasive procedure like Morpheus8 improves laxity and volume loss by producing mild thermal damage in the dermal layers to help either increase collagen repair/new collagen production and remodel adipose tissue, separately or simultaneously depending on the patient’s needs. Results are typically achieved with a series of three treatments and maintained with a single treatment every 12 months. Morpheus8 is a great choice for anyone wanting to avoid going under the knife. As for invasive surgical intervention, you may find that a necklift or facelift, or even a combination of both, could be needed to achieve an optimal lift and seamless transition. Initial results can be both dramatic and quite long lasting but maintenance (often with Morpheus8) is recommended. Keep in mind that neither Morpheus8 nor surgical intervention gives a permanent solution — time marches on along with the aging process. I would advise that you obtain consult(s) with an experienced Morpheus8 practitioner and also a board certified plastic surgeon. Ask to see before and after photos of their results. Discuss pricing, downtime, realistic expectations, risks v. benefits, etc for EACH procedure and make an educated decision based on your research, expectations, and budget.

Answer: Sagging skin can be treated by doing various treatments such as Ultherapy and Morpheus8 to help tighten the skin. Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Skin Tightening for the Neck -- Kybella, Ultherapy, Thermage, PDO NovaThreads vs VASER Hi-Def, ThermiRF, Renuvion, BodyTite "A combination approach would give the most improvement. Nonsurgical options such as Kybella, PDO NovaThreads, and Ultherapy do well in combination for skin tightening, but the results are mild compared to surgical options. I would recommend a VASER Hi-Definition Liposuction with ThermiRF, Renuvion (J Plasma) and InMode BodyTite to contour and tighten the chin and neck. A neck lift can be performed at the same time, if you're a good candidate. I suggest seeing a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist to develop a personalized treatment plan that works for you. Best, Dr. Emer."

Answer: Facetite and Morpheus Thank you for your question, you have beautiful skin! I would recommend starting with a treatment called Facetite. Facetite is a non-invasive face lift. It is a minimally invasive procedure that removes fat, lifts and tightens your skin. In addition to Facetite, we recommend a package of Morpheus8. Morpheus is a microneedling with radiofrequency. It stimulates your own collagen and elastin production to give you tighter skin and a beautiful jawline. Both treatments will give you optimal results.

Answer: What causes a loose neck? Looseness in the neck is almost always caused by the loss of volume in the face and the neck at the same time. It can happen when a person loses weight, or as the person simply gets older. The best way to find an optimal treatment plan for you would be to first, evaluate for the photographs of you from a much earlier age, such as 16 through 25. Looking at photographs from all the angles a Plastic surgeon can determine what was the cause of the droopiness in the neck. In the great majority of people who restore volume of the face and the neck, the result is a slightly fuller face with a more youthful appearance, which looks exactly like the individual used to many years prior. The procedure of restoring the volume to the face is done with the patient’s own fat, which can be removed even in thinner patients from around the waist line. Fat grafting will restore the youthful appearance and be a practically permanent, as long as it’s done by an expert fat, grafting plastic surgeon. Have a look at our patients who have had such procedures done with before and after photographs being at least four years apart. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
