Temporary crown came off and can't see dentist til Monday. Is it ok if I don't recement it myself?

The temporary crown came off around 6 PM Saturday and I can't see the dentist until 8AM Monday. I tried to recement it myself based on what I've seen online, but the material I was trying to cement with was painful on the tooth so I took it off. Is it OK to leave the temp crown off until the dentist can put it back properly? Right now I've put it back without cement, but I'm afraid to leave it like that overnight in case it comes off and I swallow it.

If you have a dental cement to place it in, go for it! If not, is better to wait until you see your dentist. 
It's very important NOT to use "crazy glue" or anything else, it can be toxic for you.

I would suggest you attempt to place the temporary back on the tooth. Your temporary will protect your tooth. Try using vaseline or denture adhesive. If using denture adhesive use a pea sized amount (very little) and gently close it into place. This should hold until you can have your dentist recement it.

By the time this post becomes visible, it will probably be Monday already.  It is always recommended to keep the temporary crown until you get your permanent crown. As long as it is not painful, it is OK to wait until Monday.
