Thank you for your question. If you are having difficulty breathing from your compression garment I would recommend contacting your surgeon's office to see if they have an alternative. In area such as the buffalo hump, we require a minimum of 2 weeks compression and re-evaluate in the office at two weeks. In addition, we perform lymphatic massage, Venous Legacy and acoustic wave treatments at one and two weeks out from the procedure.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
Compression is mandatory after lipo procedures, however each cosmetic surgeon may have their own protocol for type and duration of compression. In our office, for your area, we would have you wear a chest, back and arm garment for a minimum of 8 weeks. The 1st 2 weeks would be 24 hours around the clock, except for showering and laundering, and then continuing for at least 12 hours/day thereafter. We also absolutely recommend massage after lipo, as much as you can tolerate, but at least 5 minutes at a time, 2-3 times/day. If you are experiencing difficulty with your garment, you should be seen by your surgeon, who can address your concerns.
