Will crying a few hours after treatment ruin under eye fillers?

Question

I received under eye fillers for my dark circles and about 3 hours after treatment, received some bad news. I cried on and off for about about an hour and did my best to just dab my tears. I did not rub vigorously. Could I have possibly ruined my fillers or could this give me negative results? Thank you.

Crying shouldn’t have an effect on your filler treatment. You may experience some swelling and bruising for 7-10 days after treatment but this is nothing to worry about and should subside after this time.

I would not expect crying a few hours after under eye fillers to influence the ultimate results of the filler. From your description, I doubt that you cause any harm.

Assuming the fillers were injected properly, it is extremely unlikely that crying after your treatment would cause any migration or problem with your fillers. That being said, should you have any further questions or concerns, there is no substitute for a follow-up visit with your provider to go over your results.

Crying its self wont affect the filler. If you rubbed your eyes hard during the crying you may have but I'm sure your injector will be able to have a look and reassure you.

Crying will not "ruin" results, but may temporarily cause some swelling and puffiness under the eye.  It should settle in several days, however.  If puffiness persists, sometimes dissolving of some of the filler is necessary.

I don't think you should have any negative effects from the crying. Rubbing the area could have but unlikely. There is nothing to do at this point. Let's just wait it out and see. If you notice something at 1 week, make an appointment to get check by your provider.

Thank you for your question! Crying should not affect Restylane.  It is normal to have swelling and bruising, especially in the delicate tear trough area, for about 1-2 weeks following treatment.  It is always wise to follow up with the physician that performed the injections with any questions or concerns. Best of luck!
