I have done some research and see a majority of questions from women about areola reduction in conjunction with other procedures, and undesirable results. Would a male be a better candidate given the fact that there is not as much weight and tension on the chest compared to a female?

Your areolae appear to be sitting too high since your breasts have bottomed out and are sagging. The lift, with a small reduction to decrease the weight of your breast, can be repeated and the areolae scars can be revised at the same time.
The vertical lift would do much better for you and position the breasts in the proper location. With the breasts lifted, your areolar reduction will be more successful since breast tissue won't be pulling on them. You are too saggy for the doughnut lift.
