I am a slender 120lb, 27 year old woman but have always had a problem area of a fat deposit under my chin. I am scared of the idea of surgery but have been considering smart lipo since it is noninvasive. Would this be the right decision for me? Also, I see lots of places offering smart lipo, groupons. Is this an easy procedure that can be done anywhere, or it is best to go with a top surgeon? What should I expect to pay for the procedure? (Pic: normal profile vs holding fat back/desired results)
Answer: SmartLipo Thank you for your question. Kybella is the recommended non-surgical technique to remove fat deposit under the chin while SmartLipo assists patients primarily in the cheek area. Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved drug that eliminates submental fullness (double chin) due to submental fat. I suggest that you move forward by consulting with a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Best wishes,

Answer: Non invasive procedures Thank you for your question. I feel I should address two major concerns that I had from reading your question. The first is the nature of non-invasive treatments and secondly looking at deals that offer treatments for you cheaper. Firstly, all forms of liposuction are invasive. Whether this is traditional liposuction, vaser, smart lipo or promeltor, the overall procedure is one where instruments are used inside you therefore this is invasive. Secondly, when looking at treatments, although cost is definitely a consideration, you should not have your procedure on the basis that this is the cheaper option. It might be cheaper but not the correct option and leave you with not only a sub-standard result but also a result that you do not like and then need to spend more money correcting the subsequent problem. You would then need to pay even more than what you would originally have had to because now the area has scarring and swelling and is more complicated to sort out. Therefore, for this I would really consider the treatments first and find out as much about the procedures that are right for you and then look at the prices. In our clinic, we do a lot of facelifts and necklifts under local anaesthetic (Concept facelift) and do see a huge number of patients with similar concerns to yourself. In the younger patients, with good quality skin, liposuction alone works very well. we have used standard liposuction and achieved very good results with this. In some patients, once they are assessed, we can tell with the quality of their skin that, liposuction alone will not be of use as there is also a degree of skin laxity that needs to be addressed and therefore in these patients liposuction alone will not suffice. In looking for the correct answer for you I would advise to seek someone who will explain all the procedures possible for you and why one would be better than the other. Not just that this one is cheaper so do it. Treatments such as smart lipo/ vaser and promeltor can work very well in this area but again it depends on your overall skin quality. With your description and age, I think this would work well with you. I hope this helps you Kind regards Rohit Seth Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Hair transplant surgery

Answer: Options for double chin Thank you for your question and photos. This is a great opportunity to point out that patients should never base their treatment options solely on cost or available coupons. The best way to provide true advice on what is right for you, would be an in-person consultation with an expert. I would caution that it is very important that you see an expert provider with significant experience in aesthetic body contouring because there are many different treatment options to address stubborn fat under the chin, from completely non-invasive to minimally invasive. Cost would depend on the specific treatment plan. Best wishes! Dr. David Amron

Answer: Double Chin You may be a good candidate for Precision TX. Precision is similar to Smartlipo, same laser device. Precision focuses on the uppper and lower neck as well as jowls. If you're a good candidate this is a nice procedure for contouring under the chin area. The laser heats and melts fat while tightening skin, then the fat is suctioned. After suctioning fat the laser is used one more time to tighten skin in the neck/submental/jowl area. Honestly I would stay away from Groupon and focus your search for a good board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck to you!
