Mole removal front of nose - shave? (Photo)

Question

I have a flesh colored mole on my nose that has been there all my life. I would like to have it removed.. most of my research shows that shaving is the best option. My dermatologist and cosmetic nurse practitioner both suggested this. What questions should I ask, and what can I expect as far as healing time and process? I would also remove the other one in the photo to the lower left of my nose. Thank you!

Both the mole on your nose and the one to the side just below your nose appear raised.  Raised moles can be removed by shaving them off and I think this would be a good option for you with both moles.  The immediate healing period is normally just a few days, but the area will continue to heal for several months.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist, who can advise you on proper removal, healing outcomes and after care. Moles can be removed with laser, radiowave or shave. I recommend silicone gel with growth factors to help promote healing. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Shaving the mole or fibroma on the nose is the best option when they are flesh colored. You have a 50% chance of regrowth over the next few yrs but then just shave it flat again. It is done under local and so easy to undergo.

A shave excision is typically the easiest and most cost effective way of removing the majority of moles on the nose such as yours. It will also give the best chance of minimizing the scar. With this method the mole is actually "shaved off" at a level just below the surface of the skin. The tissue that has been removed can then be sent for microscopic examination to make sure the mole is benign. Dermatologic surgeons are experts at doing this procedure.
