I had my temporary crowns put in today. Nine front teeth. Why are my temporary crowns so big and bulky? (photo)

Hi, thanks for write... The good about this is just your temporary not permanent, so, your doctor could fix and correct any of this things before do the permanent crowns. Good luck. 

Thank you for posting your question.  I am sorry that you are upset with your Temporary crowns.  It is important to have a conversation with your dentist about your expectations prior to getting any cosmetic treatment done.  Now that you have the temporaries you should express your concerns so that they can be modified prior to the permanents.     

I am sorry to tell you that the temporary crowns cannot be reshape at all maybe with minor changes but the good thing is that they aren´t the permanent ones. I recomend you talk to your doctor about your concern before place the permanent ones to fix the size and form of your crown.good luck!

Hi:The temporary crowns can definitely be re-shaped rather easily.  I suggest you voice your concerns to your dentist right away so that the lab can use the reshapened temporary as a model of future work.  However, how your temporaries look does not necessarily reflect the final work.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Your
temporaries are not the final product but should be esthetically pleasing while
you wait for the lab to make the final restorations. The photo is blurry and I
am not sure if the temporary is one piece covering 9 teeth or if they are individual
temporaries. They should be separated so you can continue to floss. 

I would go back to the office and ask them to reshape the
temporaries and also reassure you that you are going to have a nice result
after the dental work is finished.

A trained and experienced cosmetic dentist will be able to reshape the temporaries to your satisfaction and then take an impression of the desired shape to send to the lab for duplication (ideally a digital scan, like iTero, is done and emailed to the lab so they can duplicate without risk of temps coming off during an impression).  If the teeth did not have enough reduction in tooth structure, a good lab will be able to create prep guides (reduction copings) to help adjust the teeth prior to final cementation.But this IS a bit of "cart before the horse."  A better method would have been to plan how you would like to look, have the lab create a diagnostic waxup of the plan, and the temporary (prototype) would look like the final case.  If these steps were skipped, the final result is a bit of a prayer.
