What is an Alternative to the Tazorac Cream?

I do not have insurance yet and I have a prescrption for Tazorac but it is $300. Are there any cheaper (possibly over the counter) alternatives?

Thank you for your question. I would stop using Retin-A for 2 weeks before face/neck lift. I would recommend mentioning to your plastic surgeon all your medications that you take or apply on your face. I hope this helps!

AHA moisturizers may be a little too drying when on Tazorac or Retin A. In our office, we recommend Elevase Moisture Booster for those patients on Retin A.  Elevase contains Opti-Ceramides. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Studies have shown that applying cerave cream prior to tazorac reduces irritation, but does not reduce effectiveness.

Tazorac is a topical retinoid and is useful for acne. We advise patients to avoid dryness with daily applicaiton of Tazorac by applying a ceramide cream such as Elevase once daily to avoid skin discomfort. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
