Are effects of steroid injection for small keloid immediate?

Will it reduce the redness and thickness quickly or will it look worse and then gradually start getting better? Thank you for any help!

I inject people every 4 weeks.For most, but the time i see them for the second injection at a month the keloid usually appears softer and the itching has subsided.Not always the case though....Hope this helps!dr schwartz

Steroid injections typically take away the itching from a keloid almost immediately.  Also, when you do scratch at them, the burning sensation seems to go away after the injection.  However, the decrease in size of the keloid takes a few weeks.  That is one of the reasons we don't like to inject them more than once each month.Good Luck!
