What treatment for depressed scar on tip of nose? (photos)

Question

Derm removed an ulcerated fibrous papule (took a biopsy, then did laser). Had one treatment so far to reduce scar( the pic is two weeks after laser). Derm suggested that I see plastic surgeon. What kind of treatment am I looking at here?

Fillers can help this however need to be injected with caution.  Skin graft may be the best option but would require a more substantial healing time.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello, from one Virginian to another!You appear to have a depressed scar on the nasal tip. There are several techniques that can be used to address this:Additional laser treatments or dermabrasion can help blend and level out the borders of the scar, making it less noticeable.Subcision is a procedure whereby a very small knife is used to release the scar from the underlying tissue.Injected filler material can add volume to the depression and help level it out, but most fillers are temporary and expensive. Some permanent fillers are available but can be unpredictable in the nose.For a more definitive fix, grafting material (either your fat, dermis or cartilage) can be precisely placed under the depression through an incision inside the nostril.Just to be complete, you could also have the scar excised. I don't recommend this option -- you'd only be trading one kind of scar for another. Like your Derm, I also recommend that you seek consultation with a Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon or General Plastic Surgeon. There are many such surgeons in the DC area, near you. You have the potential for an excellent result.
