I am having 6 top teeth that are temporarily crowned with supposedly C1 colored crowns...They don't look to be the same color as those on the vita classic chart...My dentist is placing zirconia crowns and he advises C1 color but I dont care for the grayish color...I like B1 but wondering if this color will clash with the color of my natural bottom teeth? Any advise as what color to choose?

Answer: Final Shade Determination Final shade determination is a very difficult decision and it is a topic that I discuss at great length with my patients before starting treatment. It is normal for your temporary crowns to look different than the vita classic guide, and it is something that I am not concerned about. The temporary crowns are monochromatic (one shade) while the color on the shade guide is more like what your final crowns will look like as it is layered with areas that have more color and other areas that have more translucency. As for the final shade determination, it does appear that your lower teeth are in the greyish tones and that is why your dentist chose C1. Without seeing you in person, it is impossible for me to determine if B1 will blend in. My recommendation is for you to go back to your dentist to go over once again your different options for a final shade so at least you have piece of mind that the color you and your dentist choose is the right color for you.
