Am I getting acne or eczema from Accutane? (photo)

I’ve been on accutane for 5 months now and have started getting acne breakout. It’s right where I get dry the most on my face. Could it be eczema from having dry skin? The acne is all in the area and are dry and flakey.

Thank you for your question and photograph. It's difficult to evaluate your skin through photos, but it looks like you have both acne and possible flare of eczema. In my experience, it is common to have breakouts while on Accutane, and breakouts may persists for several months. Also, a common side effect is dry skin, which may make eczema worse or flare while on treatment. I highly recommend you consult with your prescribing physician regarding your concerns and to discuss treatment options.
