Accutane and College - Second Opinion?

Accutane has been suggested for my college bound student. There is scarring from PIH but more worrisome, PITTED SCARS. I am concerned about side effects but more about long-term scarring if not treated. My student will be far away and not under my supervision. Could a lower dose be prescribed to minimize side effects, but still achieve results? Or would it be better to wait and try later in the spring to keep under a watchful eye? I am desperate for a second opinion .. thank you!!!!

I have many patients in college - far away from home - who continue to take Accutane. You can wait to treat the acne when your child is back with you again, but be forewarned that there will be worse and more scarring to deal with. Plus, your child will have another full year (in college!) with bad acne. It really is best to start treatment as soon as possible and work through to find a way to continue your child's medication while they are away from home.
