I have had hair thinning for almost a year now and I feel like I've tried everything. I never wanted to use Rogaine but my right temple has receded so much it's freaking me out and I don't know what to do. I've currently done 2 PRP sessions, one month apart, so I'm still waiting on results for that. Should I hold out and see how PRP works? Or start Rogaine as well as the PRP?
Answer: Hair Loss Basics--prp, progesterone, hair transplantation, Rogaine I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Rogaine Use for Women Rogaine does not Regrow hair nor does it typically work for the frontal zone. Minoxodil usually works for the middle and back towards the crown. If you are looking to recreate hair in an area where you have loss. The only thing to do that is a transplant. However, PRP is meant to rejuvenate hair and it tends to make the hair thicker and stronger. It can also be injected into the frontal zone. We get about 7 billion platelets with each treatment. Treatments need to be repeated for best results every 8-12 months.

Answer: Should I start Rogaine? If you have androgenetic alopecia, Rogaine remains the only FDA approved treatment for women. It is true that there are many options including laser, PRP, and anti-androgens. Rogaine is a reasonable option. Keep in mind that if you have other reasons for your hair loss, Rogaine may or may not do much. I never advise my own patients to start two treatments at once. If you do see a benefit, you will have no idea which one was responsible for the benefit. Many clinics love their patients to starta multitude of treatments at once. It increases the chance of having a happy patient one year later. And the patient must remain on the recommended (and often costly) treatments due to fear of stopping one. There is no right or wrong answer. But proceed cautiously and in an informed manner.

Answer: Corner hair loss Some women see corner hairloss where you are showing yours in the photos. We treat this all of the time with hair transplants and they work very well. My wife and daughter-in-law had it done and are very happy with it

Answer: Candidate for Rogaine Starting Rogaine seems like a reasonable option, yes. It is still recommended to try and get a diagnosis for your hair loss as there can be many causes for women to have hair loss, and it's best to treat the underlying problem. Early treatment is preferred to avoid further progressive loss. Good luck!
