Shift from 2 % minoxidil to 5 % minoxidil, will this increase hair shedding?

Hello , I have been using minoxidil 2% for the past 4 months that's when my hairloss started . I still have hair loss and lost half of the density. All the blood work came back normal and I have no other health problems except the hair loss. My doctor suggested me to use rogaine 5 % once a day instead of rogain 2% twice a day.. but my fear is whether shifting from 2% concentration to 5 % will increase hair shedding.? Plz suggest

Yes, this can increase hair shedding and it may take up to 6 months to see improvement. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and test results and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone which work well with Minoxidil. Hair transplantation is an alternative. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Yes it could cause shedding, but remember shedding can be either good or bad. If Rogaine is really going to help you a lot, you'll probably get some increased shedding for 2-3 months. There is no way around that.
