I am wondering if this is something that will need removed? I was cleaning my face and noticed that I had very clogged pores. I am in my 50's. I was trying to clean one out and the next day had a hard lump and a crater. Will this resolve with some cream or retinA or could it be something more?

A small inflamed cyst or nodule
Local swelling with a “crater-like” appearance

In many cases, this does settle on its own over a few weeks.

What helps:

Gentle care (no more squeezing)
Warm compresses
A mild topical like retinoid or benzoyl peroxide (very sparingly)

What I watch for:

If it stays firm, doesn’t improve after 4–6 weeks, or grows
Then we think about a true cyst or something that may need treatment

Right now, I would not rush to remove it—let it calm down first.
