Hyaluronic acid fillers after upper front tooth implant wait time?

Hello. I plan to travel to get 1 upper front tooth implant, but I also want to get hyaluronic acid fillers for some cheek acne scarring and to improve my jawline. I was wondering, how long after tooth implant should I wait to get the fillers? I plan to travel for 3 weeks. Would this be enough time to do both or should I extend it? I wouldn't want the swelling to mess with the fillers. Thank you very much!

This is a thoughtful question, and it's wise to plan the timing of both procedures carefully.

A dental implant—especially for an upper front tooth—creates temporary inflammation and swelling in the surrounding tissues. Even if your fillers are being placed in the cheeks or jawline rather than directly around the mouth, I generally prefer to let the implant area stabilize before proceeding with cosmetic injectables.

For most patients, I recommend waiting at least 2–4 weeks after implant placement, provided:

The implant is healing well.
There are no signs of infection.
The swelling has largely resolved.
Your dentist is satisfied with the healing process.

Since you're planning to stay for 3 weeks, that timeline may be enough if everything heals smoothly. However, keep in mind that healing after a front tooth implant can vary. Some patients have minimal swelling that resolves within a week, while others experience lingering inflammation for several weeks, particularly if bone grafting was performed at the same time.

Another reason I recommend spacing the procedures is that swelling from dental surgery can temporarily alter facial contours. Waiting until the tissues have settled allows the injector to assess your natural anatomy more accurately and place filler more precisely.

One additional consideration is infection risk. Although uncommon, any active dental infection or recent invasive dental procedure can increase the theoretical risk of complications with hyaluronic acid fillers. For that reason, I prefer that the implant site be healing normally before proceeding.

If your travel schedule is fixed at three weeks, my suggestion would be:

Have the implant placed first.
Follow up with your dentist to confirm the site is healing appropriately.
If the swelling has resolved and there are no concerns, cheek or jawline fillers may be reasonable toward the end of your trip.

If there is still noticeable swelling or tenderness, I'd recommend postponing the fillers until after you've fully recovered.

Planning the dental work first and the cosmetic treatment second is generally the safest and most predictable approach. That way, your filler results won't be influenced by post-surgical swelling, and you'll reduce the chance of needing adjustments later.
