Is it common to have to have drain in when you have your tissue expander's replaced with silicone gel implants.? I had bilateral mastectomy's with tissue expander's February 24, 2015. Today June 22, 2015 I had the tissue expander's removed, permanent gel implants placed, some grafting done. I was never told that I would need bilateral drains again is this common, it was never discussed with me was rather shocking to see them.

An ADM is used with many applications in plastic surgery but it is most important with breast cancer reconstruction. It allows better soft tissue healing and defines the lower crease.
Thank your for your question. What you are experiencing is very common after breast reconstruction with placement of expanders under the muscle. Ask for a referral to physical therapy as it is very important for you to start improving your range of motion and having a good posture....
Usually a lump is identified in the breast on one side or during screening mammography. If there have been changes that now have you concerned then please start by being seen and examined by your primary physician.
