295cc High Profile or 310cc Extra High Profile Implants?

Congrats on choosing to have breast augmentation surgery!  Recent studies have shown that overall patient satisfaction with breast augmentation surgery is well over 90 percent- I am sure you will do well.

It is difficult to say without more detailed measurements, but an extra high profile implant at that volume is pretty narrow- I would recheck with your PS to be sure this is not going to widen your cleavage too much. 15cc is only one tablespoon difference- keep this in mind when choosing implants.

In order to make an accurate size recommendation, I would need to assess your chest wall and breast mound measurements and characteristics.  Unfortunately, there is not a general rule of thumb or objective criteria to implant selection.
Your plastic surgeon will perform several measurements of your chest wall and breast anatomy and determine a range of implants that both fit your chest wall and reach your desired goals.
The next step is to try on this range of implants in the office with your doctor.   The key to this success is showing your surgeon the body proportion you desire with a bra sizer and allowing your surgeon to guide you to the right implant.   It will be much easier to communicate in implant cc's than cup size when determining the appropriate implant for you.

Without examining you, of course, I can only give you generalized advice.  I never use or recommend extra high profile implants for augmentation--only breast reconstruction.

Thank you for the question.  Unfortunately, despite your good description of body type and goals, online consultants will not be able to provide you with specific enough advice. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering  breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:





1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully.  Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you're looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.







2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals  with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining  breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. 
In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural”  or “full D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
 Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup  size may also be inaccurate.








3.  Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly,  allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals.  Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery.

The two implants you are deciding upon are subtlety different.  It is best to be examined in person to be properly evaluated.

There are subtle differences between the 2 implants mentioned.  Either size is fine.  However at your height and weight I would imagine you could go with a larger size.  Photos would be helpful in evaluating situation.  There is nothing wrong in getting a second opinion.

15cc is a very small difference in volume between implants.  At 5"8 with an A-B cup  higher volumes would probably be necessary to get you to a full D (although rarely will a plastic surgeon guarantee you a cup size).  Perhaps have your plastic surgeon or a second opinion re-measure your breast diameter as it seems slightly small for your frame.

The 2 implants you discussed are very close in size. Your surgeon can discussed the specifics for you according to your measurements. You might ask if you can try on implant sizers to get an idea about size you might prefer. I would leave the final decision to your surgeon.

The main variables in deciding which size implants are best for you are firstly the look you are trying to achieve, secondly the size of your chest, and thirdly the amount of breast tissue you currently have.

It is difficult to comment on the best implant for you without examining you or at least seeing some photos. The implants you have been shown are both very similar, the main difference being the projection.

The extra high profile implants are more likely to give you a stepped off appearance at the top of your breast. That is ok but it may look a little less natural. The high profile implants with their lower profile are likely to give you a more natural slope at the top of your breasts.

Discuss this with your PS, and maybe even bring in some photos of breast shapes that you like to your next consultation.

The implants you mentioned are so close in size, that without an exam it is hard to comment on this.  Trust your surgeon regarding the size and style of implant for your best result.
