Microneedling

Much Better Than Expected. Love the Results

Second time getting microneedling done. I was so scared the first time but Kelsey was so amazing I came back to get the treatment done again by her. She knows what she’s doing and explains each step. Worst part is just the numbing cream and having to sit there for about 30 minutes but the actual micro needling part takes about 15mins ish. First time my face was very red. Back to normal in about a week. My second time, way less redness and just looks like sunburn even on day one of treatment. Kelsey is wonderful at what she does. She even gave me a good mask and serum and explained best tips for post treatment. Will definitely be back

The Best Medspa in NYC and the World

Skinney Medspa is the best medical spa in NYC. And after trying spas in other cities, I can say that it’s one of the best in the world. It's my go to place for everything beauty. Facials, laser treatments, coolscultping, dermal fillers etc! I go here not only because the space is beautiful, but because the staff is the most knowledgeable and attentive and they are who you want to take care of your skin! They take their time to really look at your skin, assess what it needs and then explain in the most detailed way your options. After going to so many places that make you feel like you're just another customer and provide impersonal experiences, going to this place felt life changing. Having a place you can go to with highly trained beauty experts that you can trust and rely on is necessary as you start to notice your skin not looking as fresh or bright as it used to. I recently got the Clear + Brilliant treatment and I’m obsessed with it. The most amazing thing is that it delivers results that you see right away and that you see as months go by. I keep coming back not only because I see results that I haven't seen anywhere before but because friends and family keep commenting on my skin. They don't understand how it's possible to keep looking younger and younger as time goes by! I used to go to Skinney only for my face but after trying emsculpt on my stomach, now I come here to help me look toned! The effects take what working out gives me to a whole new level. Thank you Skinney! I can't stop raving about you!

42 Years Old, Mother of One (21 Year Old), C-Section Stubborn Belly Fat

I'm 4'10" and 168 pounds. My weight definitely bothers me. I've yo-yo'ed for years with dieting, losing and gaining weight. I'm hoping to finally stick to a diet plan that works for me and lose weight for after Cool Sculpting. Today was the day for Cool Sculpting, not for weight loss but to finally get rid of this stubborn belly fat that I've had for years. I'm hoping that after spending all this money and seeing results it will also help motivate me to take better care of my weight/overall health. I will start eating healthier, keep a diary using My Fitness Pal and will start working out this week. OK so enough about diet and exercise; here's my experience so far. I will keep everyone updated as time passes: I took DAY 1 before and after procedure pictures. I had my procedure done at Skinney Medspa in Manhattan. I will have a total of 4 applications - today I had 3 large applications at 1 hour each, total of 3 hours. 1 large application on the lower abdomen, 1 large on the right side and 1 large on the left side of my upper abdomen. The 4th application (my second procedure) will be done on my lower abdomen again in 6 weeks on Feb. 4th. Parminder and Natalie were very nice and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. There were 2 hiccups where the machine turned off while I was getting my upper abs done but they came in quickly and fixed it up (no problem there). Initially when the machine was placed on my lower abdomen it felt very uncomfortable. The pressure from the suction, the coldness and the pulling was uncomfortable but I got used to it in 10 minutes and watched Netflix while this was being done. After my first hour the application was removed and it looked like a large lump of butter which was then massaged. My skin felt numb and very cold. The procedure was repeated on the right side of my upper abdomen. Now the upper abs is much more uncomfortable than the lower. Maybe because I do not have as much fat on the upper as I have on the lower. It took me longer to get comfortable (about 20 minutes). When it was time for the upper left side to be done, it took even longer, but I knew it would be over soon since I had already endured 2 hours. After I was done I felt numb, my belly was red and now my belly is swollen. I'm able to walk around with no problem. When sitting and standing I feel a tingling. I'm already seeing bruising on my upper abs. I will share pics of that either tomorrow or 2 days later because that's when I usually show more bruising. Right now it's been 5 hours since I've had this done and I'm feeling fine. I am drinking lots of water as recommended. Tomorrow I will wear a girdle (hopefully) to help keep everything nice and tight. I'm hoping this is all worth it after all the reviews I have read. Something's gotta give with this nasty gut! :-D If it works out I'll definitely be getting my back fat done. Updated on 27 Dec 2016: I'm very swollen around my belly. It's not very painful but it hurts a little to bend and when I laugh and sneeze. I've been out and about. I went to the store, bought some groceries and got my nails done. I can't walk very fast though, just a little slower than normal. I wore jeans and a girdle all day - my skin is numb so if it's supposed to hurt with the girdle on, I'm probably not feeling it. I do have some small bruising on my upper abs. I did not notice the huge bruise on the lower part of my lower ab until I went to take photos - I couldn't see if because of the swelling. I'm concerned because the swelling is making my belly look bigger than it was before (ugh!), but I'm hoping that it's just from yesterday's procedure. Updated on 29 Dec 2016: I have not taken any pics but just want to update that I'm still swollen and I'm starting to get the pins and needles/tingling feeling back in mostly my upper abdomen and a little on my lower abdomen. It can be a bit uncomfortable. I have not seen much of a difference in my appearance since day 2. I've been watching my diet I did lose 2.5 pounds since 4 days ago, but it's probably all just water weight. I have not worked out yet since I am vacationing this week. I will plan to go back to the gym next week once I'm back on my regular work routine. Updated on 31 Dec 2016: I've been doing well the past few days but today has been very painful. My upper abs have been burning. I had to ice the area and take Tylenol this morning and as soon as it wore off the burning came back. I have plans to go out for New Years Eve. I hope I can get out and deal with this. What a way to bring in the new year ???? Happy New Year everyone! Updated on 2 Jan 2017: It's been a week since I've had Cool Sculpting done and this nerve pain in feeling is not cool at all! I read a review here where someone referred to the pain an satan's second cousin and I can totally relate. I get shooting pains and then moments of stabbing pins and needles in random areas of my abdomen. I'm starting to hate I ever had this done. I haven't seen any results - but I know it's too early. I'm trying to keep positive but every time I feel the pain I want to punch someone in the face. Sometimes I'm on the couch saying "I hate you" when there's no one else in the room. My son will come out of his room and look at me puzzled and concern. This pain is driving me insane. I'm still taking Tylenol and putting ice. Funny thing was I saw a Cool Sculpting commercial on TV this morning and I gave my TV the finger. I don't want to conclude that this is not worth it just yet... but I swear I am miserable right now. Updated on 4 Jan 2017: The worst pain was over the New Year Weekend but it has finally gone down. There are areas on my abdomen where the skin still feels numb. My only problem is now is I'm swollen. Yesterday I got back to work after vacation and I had the hardest time buttoning my pants. I'm in law enforcement and wear a duty rig and my uniform pants are tighter around my waist. The belt was also uncomfortable but I just dealt with it. My uniform was fine before Cool Sculpting and now I feel like I need new pants. :-( I'm hoping the swelling goes away soon. Updated on 4 Feb 2017: It's been a while since I've last posted. I've been struggling with my opinion as to whether CS is worth it or not. I finally got through all the nerve pain and I got a Venus Freeze treatment 4 weeks later. I believe the Venus Freeze helped with breaking down the fat. I didn't lose a lot of weight (only 2 lbs) because I have not dieted or worked out but I will admit that I can see the inches that have shed on my lower and upper abs. When I pinch the skin where I had treatment, I am not pinching as much fat as before. It's a difference. If I grab my love handles on the sides I can definitely grab a nice handful. The skin on my abs is wrinkly and flappy because of the fat that's gone underneath. Right now I'm getting my second treatment on my lower abdomen. It's still painful the second time around. I will share results as time goes on. I am now considering getting my love handles and back/bra fat does as well. Updated on 10 Feb 2017: I had my second session of CS on Sat. February 4th on my lower abdomen. Six days later I am back to having those nasty stabbing pains. I had a rough time sleeping last night because of it. I didn't have this much pain in my lower abdomen the first time I did it. This morning I told myself never again. I'm done with Cool Sculpting. In about 10 days I have a session of Venus Freeze and then one more there after. After those 2 VF sessions I'll be visiting Skinney Med Spa in April for an overall review to see how I've made out. I guess that's when I'll be letting everyone know if this was all worth it or not. I'm starting to feel very negatively again but I think it's because of the pain I'm in.

Worst Money Ever Spent. New York, NY

I am 35 years old. No children. 5'5 138 lbs. wanted coolsculpting because I have stubborn fat on my lower abs. During my consultation I was told I would need the large applicator on my lower abdominal area, and the small applicator on my upper ab area. The quote was $1800 and I chose a payment plan. The actual procedure was extremely uncomfortable the entire time. The first 10 mins the technician stays with you to make sure you are ok, and that is by far the worst part of it. However, when they say it gets numb and you cannot feel the rest of the 50 mins they are LYING. It hurts the whole time. The machine is very heavy on your tummy as well, and I felt at any moment I might call it quits and rip it off. I have no idea how I got through it but I did. Then the "massage" happens. This haunts me to this day. Imagine having a HUGE painful bruise and someone pushing and rubbing it hard for 5 mins. Days 1-4 were just weird. My belly was swollen and just sort of hanging there cold. Days 5-14 EXCRUCIATING PAIN. Day 5 I could not even get out of bed. I am not a wimp about pain either. Every single day I had to have an ice pack constantly on the area that was treated. 24 hours a day of pain. At night I had to get up every 4 hours to refill my ice pack. FOR NINE DAYS! It is not a joke. I don't take pain meds so that was not an option. Advil literally did nothing other than laugh at me. 5 months later. I went for a follow up today and there has been zero progress. To say I am disappointed is the understatement of the century. I am a healthy girl who eats well, drinks little, and works out 3-5 days a week. There is no reason this shouldn't have worked except to say it is a TOTAL RACKET! I feel like this company sold me a lie, and I am now stuck paying it off for the next year. Please message me if you want real advice on this. It is 100% not worth it. Updated on 4 Jun 2016: Updated on 1 Aug 2016: According to my doctor actual Hyperplasia is very rare, however, I do have it and it was caused by Coolsculpting. I am going to a consultation tomorrow with a plastic surgeon to see what my options are. I will post updates about that journey as well. Updated on 30 Aug 2016: For anyone who is actually following this story: I had corrective Lipo on the lower abdomen, upper abdomen and I paid extra $ for my waist. I was in a "twilight" state of anesthesia but I do remember telling the doctor that he was "mean" for hurting me Lololol. Other than that I don't remember much and I do NOT remember any pain during the procedure. I am almost two weeks out now and I have to say, for me, the recovery has been MUCH easier than what I experienced with coolsculpting. I had to take 1/2 Vicodin the first night but nothing since. I'll continue to update but feel free to ask any questions! Updated on 22 Oct 2016: I amntwo months post and feeling totally normal. I know there is still some swelling and I am hoping that will go away! Nevertheless, I am getting back to health and training to get me body back!

Decided to give Coolsculpting a try

I saw some great reviews for Skinney Medspa and decided to book a free consultation. While there I was impressed with the facility, and everyone seems so nice. In particular the physician I met with there was really easy to talk to and I felt like I was having a great conversation with a girlfriend who was non-judgemental and completely understanding of why I felt self conscious about my stomach. I have to admit though, although I read up on Coolsculpting and did a lot research online, I was not as prepared as I should have been with a list of questions to ask. I was pretty much at the very very beginning of considering the procedure, but after speaking with them, I decided I wanted to go for it. They made it sound so great - no down time, little to no pain, just some discomfort. I made an appointment for a Saturday (yesterday) and was surprised that the physician I spoke with would not be the one who would actually be performing the procedure. We took a couple before shots of the front, back, and sides. The technician grabbed my stomach pinched the flab, made some marks with a yellow crayola marker! The application of the wet squishy towel was not bad, neither was the suction from the applicator. About 45 minutes into the first side, I did knock into the applicator a bit and it hurt for a couple of minutes but then the feeling went away. 1 hr flies by when you're watching netflix on an ipad they provide. Sure enough when the applicator is removed, I look like I've got a stick of frozen butter stuck on me, and the massage was as uncomfortable as I had been warned, from reading reviews online. Bathroom break - and then it was on to the next side. The massage on the other side seemed to hurt a lot more, and when it was over, I felt like I had to rest for a few minutes before getting up. The pain made me feel almost nauseous. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to check out or anything, but I got dressed and waited at the front desk where they scheduled me in for a 3 month follow up (what? thats the next time I will be hearing from them??) and the lady casually mentioned the location of envelopes for tips. (Am I supposed to tip for coolsculpting???) Anyway, the rest of the day went by without any major issues. My stomach basically feels really numb and I am praying that no one knocks into it - I can't imagine the pain! I'm on day 2 now, and I've run 12 miles as part of my training plan. I was worried about the jiggling, which did cause a bit of pain, but I wore a tight tank top, and it helped a lot. I'm reading other reviews now about the stabbing pains you get 1 week into the procedure and I am SO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT. NO ONE warned me about it! So I have no idea what I've gotten myself into.... Updated on 15 Aug 2016: Feels swollen today, and more of the same numb feeling. Updated on 16 Aug 2016: So I've been reading that eventually I'll be experiencing some pins and needles kind of feeling, like when you can finally feel your frozen fingers. I guess that may be what is happening now? Worked out this morning (running), made sure to wear shorts with a high waistband to minimize the jiggling. The jiggling is really the only time when I feel slight discomfort and tenderness. I can feel a bit of twitching in my stomach area, but it doesn't really cause any pain. Visually still looks the same. Numbness still there. Updated on 18 Aug 2016: By now I am just more irritated than anything by the numbness and the weirdness and the twinges of pain. It's not horrible, it's just annoying. I notice that it is more uncomfortable to sleep on my back because it seems to increase the tingling pain. Sitting at my desk at work can also be uncomfortable probably because I am not focusing on anything besides the weird pains. Visually everything still looks the same and there is still swelling. Also I am noticing that I get full or tired of eating sooner and more easily because I can feel my stomach expanding and it kind of hurts! Updated on 19 Aug 2016: I think today is going to be better than yesterday. Sleeping was rather uncomfortable last night, pain even when laying on my side, but this morning feels better. Ran as usual making sure to wear something with a tight supportive waist band. Took some photos but felt like there is still a bit of swelling, maybe not as much as before. Numbness still there. Updated on 19 Aug 2016: Not better! Sucks being at work. Hurts again. Is it from sitting? Clothes are too tight? The endorphins released from running are gone? Who knows. :( Updated on 20 Aug 2016: Just to numb the pain a bit. More stabby cramps pain today which is a lot like the kind of pain I get when I have to poop really bad. Needless to say, I am visiting the bathroom for #2 almost every couple of hours :/ I took some Tylenol yesterday at work and didn't feel like it did much to alleviate the pain. I hope this gets better soon Updated on 21 Aug 2016: So I think exercising may actually make the pain worse, after the runners high wears off. If you think about, all the bouncing is only going to aggravate the nerves more, if indeed nerves are what is causing the stinging stabbing sensation. I ran 16 miles today with no pain at all during the run, but afterwards, the pain is intense!!! Updated on 22 Aug 2016: There is still pain, and I am counting down the days to when I can expect it to be over. Day 10 is it? Ugh. There is one spot on the right in particular that is cramping in pain every so often. Like the kind of pain I get when I have bad gas. This spot really bugs me and makes me crabby. I am not sure if anyone around me has noticed my grumpiness recently because of this. It makes me not want to go out or socialize. I just want to lay on the couch all day! I had emailed the medspa on Friday to let them know of the discomfort and pain, and they responded that someone would set me up with a doctor to help me get through this, but so far...nothing yet. Updated on 23 Aug 2016: that's all. Stomach looks the same still. Updated on 25 Aug 2016: There was not as much pain yesterday, and I was even able to keep my mind off the discomfort through a 4 hr dinner+drinks event with my office. But I do think I am paying dearly for it today. There is some swelling and it feels more uncomfortable today than yesterday. The waistband of my skirt is adding to the discomfort because of the swelling. l wouldn't be surprised if alcohol contributes to the side effects as well. There seems to be more cramping today. :( Updated on 27 Aug 2016: The pain is decreasing little by little every day. There is some slight itching today but that bothers me way less than the pain from before. Stomach still feels numb. I've been noticing that I have more pain when I eat too much during a meal. No results yet Updated on 31 Aug 2016: But it still gets a little itchy sometimes. Can't see any results yet and I have been documenting every day. Updated on 5 Sep 2016: Only a little numbness left now, and some itchiness. Haven't seen a difference yet though so I am pretty disappointed. Updated on 9 May 2017: Officially 9 months post treatment and I have to say that I feel overall pretty pleased with coolsculpting. I have more definition on either side of my belly which I am 90% sure has never been there before. As much as I feel that is a good result I would be hesitant to go back and get it done on my lower belly even thought I would really like to. The fear that I might develop hyperplasia scares the crap out of me! Plus I read that some plastic surgeons would cover the cost of lipo to fix if this were to happen, and I don't think a medical spa would offer this kind of insurance.

27, Having a Rough Year, Time to Do Something - New York, NY

I'm 27, almost 28. I used to weigh 200 lbs probably pushing 50% body fat. In my last two years of college I lost 45 lbs, got to 27% body fat. Until some serious health issues kicked in. It took almost 10 years from my first flare to be diagnosed with endometriosis. (You can see my belly scars from April's surgery.) Now I won't blame the pill/ring/IUD for my weight gain. But it did coincide. I gained quite a bit of fat back (but also 20 lbs of muscle. I'm sitting at 35% body fat currently. I'm getting four applicators (2 large on abdomen and 2 small on flanks) of coolsculpting on Saturday. For full disclosure I am continuing my weight training/cardio/martial art training and doing a whole30 diet. I plan on doing everything to cut this chub down to size. Next update will be day of. Updated on 10 Sep 2016: Hi everyone. I just got back from my procedure. I ended up doing two of the large applicators on my lower belly and two small on my bra line. I took my weight/measurements the day of just as a baseline. 186.2 lbs 35% body fat 45 inch hips 39.5 around the belly 34 waist Let's see how this changes. I am continuing my training regiment and keeping a restricted diet as I have been. Now as for the experience itself: I have to say it was one of the strangest sensations of my life. The suction itself was not so bad but the initial cooling was intense. I did briefly panic wondering what I had gotten myself into. But even the numbness didn't feel like an absence of pain. It was uncomfortable but not shocking to my system. The belly definitely hurt more than the bra line. The bra line was easy in comparison. But as others said the massage is probably the worst, all that sensation coming back into the frozen stick of butter on my belly! I'm gonna rest for a bit, and I'll keep you updated as it progresses! Now I'm home. I feel a bit ill - in the way I feel sick after a tattoo. The body's immune response has gone up. My belly feels tender to the touch and sort of numb. But nothing shocking or horrible. Updated on 12 Sep 2016: So, symptomatically, I feel quite bruised. Almost like I got kicked. (I spar so I'm fairly used to the feeling.) It's not bad enough for me to take any medication for it. The bruised feeling is more on the bra line. My belly is still fairly numb but I feel the bruising when I walk. Wearing spanx helps. Updated on 19 Sep 2016: My tum is still a bit numb and itchy, and if you press on it or my bra line I can feel a slight bruising, but nothing that really bothers me. In fact most of the time I forget about it. I have lost about 2.2 lbs through diet and exercise since the day of the procedure. Updated on 24 Sep 2016: So it's been two weeks, I don't expect to SEE a lot of change, but it does feel like there's a little less to grab in my lower belly and a little less chub at my bra line. For complete accountability, I'm still dieting and exercising. I have lost 3.9 lbs since the day of the procedure and 0.6% bf. Updated on 14 Oct 2016: So this is five weeks. I think I see the most difference in my bra line. For reference and honesty I have lost 7 lbs through diet and exercise since the day of the procedure. Updated on 6 Nov 2016: Well I can say it does do what it's supposed to do. I can see that in the shape of my belly I lost more fat where I had treatments done. That being said I've lost 13 lbs since the day of the procedure and I think my diet an exercise has paid a big part. And I know I have a lot of money to pay off now. Updated on 23 Nov 2016: So I've lost about 20 lbs since the procedure from diet and exercise. I can see a distinct difference between the treated and untreated area on my belly. I'll probably have to cave for the upper abdomen because it does stick out a bit
