David Elliot Kent, a native Georgian, received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1982. After completing his internship at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital, he completed a dermatology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1986 where he served as chief resident during his final year. Following his dermatology residency, he completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, lasers, and dermatologic surgery under the tutelage of Dr. Hugh Greenway at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla California in 1987.

Q: Does Cigna healthcare cover removal of a nickel sized, protruding mole on the back?

A: If an otherwise benign mole, but it is in the way of clothing or irrtated it can be covered by insurance for removal.

Q: Feel like my lips/muscles are hyperflexed on one side leading to an asymmetrical appearance? Would filler or botox work? (photo)

A: we are often consulted to see a patient with a facial assymetry due to muscle imbalances in the face. By considering botox on the stronger side can create symmetry and a more even appearing face.
Sometimes bells palsy will present in this way as an example.

Q: What are some safe and effective chemical peels for dark skin?

A: Skin peels for patients with skin of color demands careful consideration of which peeling agent to select. Additional options for safe peeling agents for unwanted hyperpigmentation other than a Cosmelan peel would include a Melanage peel that is highly effective or a peel with salicylic acid. One should avoid peeling agents with trichloroacetic acid.
