Leading up to the surgery, I was very unsure about the size recommendation from Dr Merten to achieve my desired look, however I decided to trust his experience and went with it. And the end result, wow! I’m so glad I did! The size, shape and overall feel of my new breasts are perfect. My scars are healing incredibly well and my post op care from Dr Merten and his team has been second to none! I am extremely happy and cannot recommend Pure Aesthetic more highly!
Dr Merten performed my breast reduction procedure in March 2022. The process was very simple, smooth and efficient. Dr Merten is very clear and straightforward in his assessments, and confident in results. He is also a perfectionist and I always felt he took pride in the results, as well as being progressive in his approach to recovery. I went from a 32G to a 32E - and although I was aiming for smaller in bra size - the actual size is much more proportional, and comfortable for my body.
My experience and results with Dr Merton and his team was above and beyond what I could have expected. They are professional and friendly, and make the somewhat “uncomfortable” experience of sharing your “worst bits” very easy and reassuring. I am extremely happy with my results, and the close support I have had from the team. For anyone looking to undergo mastopexy or augmentation in Sydney, I would recommend no other practice than pure aesthetics.
Top team all round from reception to the nurse to the surgeon and anaesthetists. Couldn't be happier with my experience. I am now 3 months post op after having gender affirming surgery (double mastectomy with nipple grafts) and feel amazing! My chest looks wonderful too. Steve was more than happy to give me advice and reassurance after I went home from the hospital if I called him. I had trouble with my health fund not wanting to pay for my hospital stay after saying that they would and Steve wrote a letter confirming that my surgery was necessary and not purely cosmetic. I am in my mid 20s and have always been unhappy about the size and position of my boobs (lets just say, they looked a lot older than the rest of me!). I researched some surgeons online and found Dr Merten from Pure Aesthetics. He had great reviews and I was very impressed with all the before and after photos supplied on the website. I nervously booked in for an initial consultation and Dr Merten was very realistic about my expectations and professional with his approach. I booked in for surgery that day and was very excited about it! I had surgery in Hunters Hill Private Hospital and the staff were great! Very caring and efficient. Post- surgery, my recovery was quick and relatively painless. Dr Merten and the staff at Pure Aesthetics have been helpful throughout the whole process and were always happy to get me in for a quick follow up appointment if I had any concerns. I am now 6 weeks post-op and I am extremely happy with the result. I have just returned back to my normal exercise routine and I am feeling great! Can't wait to go bikini shopping for summer!
I received surgery for unilateral gynecomastia 6 months ago, after the first couple of weeks my chest looked awful again and continued to get worse as the swelling subsided, after three months of being told it was just swelling and it would settle I went for an ultrasound. There was still a large amount of breast tissue left. Steve Merten assured me that he had taken everything out and that it must be regrowth but did not suggest a blood test of any kind?!?!? He operated again after three months as the pain and discomfort I was in was unbearable to the point where I wasn't able to wear any clothing over my top half without at least 3 thick plasters over my nipple. The swelling from the second operation was terrible, as was the pain. No one explained to me how to use the drains before I was discharged from the hospital and when I called the office to ask how this was done I was told to go back to the hospital (a 70 dollar cab ride away) and then laughed at by the receptionist. I have been left deformed again. I cannot work and I have had to move back to the uk with my parents. I wish I had never entered pure aesthetics and I would advise all male breast reduction patients to Avoid this surgeon and his rude staff like the plague Updated on 7 Apr 2016: I have now been to see three separate surgeons, all of them agree that a bad job has been done both times. I now need liposuction on both sides, further gland excision, and scar correction to get my chest looking normal. Still experiencing a massive amount of discomfort and still unable to work.
