Really am so happy about making the decision to get a breast aug here. After having two kids and breastfeeding I was ready for an “upgrade” — I am in my mid 30s and wanted better shape and size. The staff and especially nurses here are so kind and really knowledgeable about what you need to do to recover the best and most effectively. Listen to them and the instructions— they do this literally all day/week/year so their experience/expertise is your advantage. Dr. Robbins did a great job and the one thing I was naive about was which implant size to choose, as I’m sure most people are. Based on your body composition/measurements, you’re given a recommended range of “sizes” that will fit your body/shape best and ultimately it is up to you as a final decision on what that implant size/shape is. The staff and Dr. Robbins are helpful in the process at your pre-op appt in making that final decision. I did ask if what happens if you pick an implant “outside” of the recommended range and was told you can/are technically allowed to of course pick a size “outside” of that recommended range however you and Dr. are on the same wavelength that the implant size you picked wasn’t one he/team recommended for best result/outcome. I didn’t pick a size outside of the recommended range or anything lol but was just curious. They said they practice based on best long term result/outcome for patients. I also was able to “add-on” chin liposuction and abdominal liposuction to my surgery. I figured since I was going under general anesthesia for the breast aug that this would be an ideal time to do it. I’m not heavy or overweight at all but definitely had stubborn fat on my abdomen and a developing double chin. Seriously best decision ever it was like night and day for the chin especially. Would highly recommend doing this procedure by itself and/or asking about if it would be a good option when you’re getting another surgery anyways like a breast aug. I did also like that they have the operating room on site. Didn’t have to go to a hospital and liked the idea that the operating room/facility is only for cosmetic surgery. Felt more exclusive and specialized that way. Finally I think there obviously aren’t a ton of legit options in Des Moines or Iowa and Dr. Robbins is an actual doctor (MD) and is board certified in all the legit areas of plastic and cosmetic surgery. The pricing was VERY competitive I thought as well for all things included/considered. Highly recommend going here at the very least for a consult to see what your options are and obviously surgery!
There are a lot of good reviews for this place and that's what originally brought me here. The doctor is very accomplished and knowledgeable, I have no doubt he has a TON of experience. There were also some good staff that cared. However, if I could go back and do it over again I would choose a different place. I am a trans woman and according to the doctor I was his first transgender breast implant patient. Most of the procedure went as planned with no complications. I had my 1 month post op appointment and had some concerns and questions. I wasn't able to get to them though. Within a minute, he smelled cigarette smoke and was very clearly irritated. I stood there topless and humiliated as he states "These incisions should be healed better. You have a stitch abscess and if the implant falls out that's it." He continued by saying "You have to wear a bra for 3 months, you can work out but not push-ups and you don't need to come back" then, just walked out. It was absolutely humiliating and I walked out with so many more questions than I had when I arrived. I had to make an appointment with my regular doctor to make sure I was OK. I'd rate this place 1 star but some of the staff was so caring that I give it 2 stars
I am a 48 year old Wife and Mother of three who just wants to have clothes fit well! I have dreamed of a tummy tuck since having 3 big baby boys (‘93,’96&’98) and 2 C-Sections. My pregnancies caused terrible wide and deep stretch marks and loose skin. I went for a consultation when I was 32 (and in much better shape) but it was just not the right time in my life. I finally have come to the point that the time is right! I have had my consultation, my post op visit and paid for the surgery! The waiting begins... Updated on 24 Jan 2018: Feeling a little groggy, but pain is tolerable! I have been taking small walks through the house. I am anxious to take off the binder. My wonderful husband has been a wonderful nurse. The experience at Des Moines Plastic Surgery was very positive! The Doctor, Nurses and the Anesthesiologist were all very helpful and took the time to answer my questions and calm my anxiousness! Updated on 25 Jan 2018: Still using the muscle relaxer and pain meds. Moving around a lot better today! Hoping to have a shower later today! Updated on 25 Jan 2018: The shower felt amazing! I have Been moving around pretty well today! Updated on 30 Jan 2018: Healing has been going very well, pain is manageable but unfortunately I have contracted the Flu. Getting some tamiflu to hopefully help run its course quickly! ???? Updated on 2 Feb 2018: I am feeling much better from the flu symptoms! Went to the Dr today and had the stitches and drain tubes removed! Feels great! Still have some lumpiness from the Lipo and have scar cream to apply twice daily. I go back in 3 weeks for a follow up! Will post some pics soon! Updated on 13 Feb 2018: I am two weeks out from surgery and feeling pretty great! I am only taking ibuprofen periodically for any discomfort but generally I only take my daily vitamin regimen and collagen to encourage healing. The only discomfort I really have are on my hips where the drain tubes were. I am religiously applying the scar cream 3 times a day and massaging the lipo areas that are still lumpy. I am also wearing my binder (because my mean nurse-husband) gets on me if I take it off! I am getting a little stir crazy around the house and I have a few outings planned for the rest of the week, so I am excited to get out a bit. We have had over 8 inches of snow and expecting more so taking it careful outside. Looking forward to my next check up where they will take photos to compare to the before pictures! Updated on 13 Feb 2018: I am actually 3 weeks out today, I wrote an update last week but forgot to post it until today ????. This week has been a little more challenging, a little more pain (tolerable with ibuprofen) and swelling. I tried to go back to work 3-4 hours a day (cosmetologist) this week but I find i am swelling a lot from being on my feet so I am cutting back to 2-3 hours per day (I have amazing clients). I will see the surgeon next week for pictures and to check up on my progress!
