Answered my questions and did a great job

I was not sure where to go for Botox or Dysport - there is so much marketing out there! I am a professor who teaches in front of students weekly, and I was very nervous about getting it done the first time. I didn't want a plastic face or droopy eye. AAPS was perfect! They answered my questions and did a great job. I've been going there ever since. One time, I did feel like my eyebrow was a bit "heavy" or hooded after the Botox kicked in - they brought me in right away and knew exactly how to fix it. They noted it in my file and it's never happened again. I would highly recommend AAPS for these types of services!

Mommy Makeover

Seeing my belly button for the first time since I had my first kid

I wanted to pay it forward and leave a review of my experience since I spent so much time on here during my decision making stage. I had an abdominoplasty with diastasis repair and breast augmentation with Dr. Tiffany Ballard (and hernia repair by another surgeon). I'm 12 days post-op and feeling great today. I'm still swollen, a little bruised and a little hunched over, but overall feel like I'm recovering very quickly. I'm not doing much as far as activity goes and have only been focusing on nutrition and gradually straightening up when I walk. The first 3 days were painful, but managed well enough with prescription pain meds. The next 3 days I felt pretty tight and swollen, but the discomfort was managed with Tylenol after day 4. I had my follow up appt on day 6 post-op. Some stitches were removed then and my drain was removed (I only had one). Each day I wake up feeling noticably better (less swollen, pain free, less hunched over). On my next follow up appt we will discuss scar care. My incision is below my underwear line. My breasts are still swollen, as well as my belly. I'm pleased with the whole experience so far. I'm seeing my belly button for the first time since I had my first kid (almost 13 years ago) and that makes Dr. Ballard my new best friend. It's important that she's board certified, but also important that she takes an artistic approach to her work. I'm looking forward to my next update. Updated on 10 Jun 2023: Two weeks post-op. Still swollen around navel and lower abdomen. Breast are still a little swollen (left more than right) and sitting high. Overall the swelling is decreasing faster than I anticipated and I'm feeling good. 2nd post-op appointment is still 2.5 more weeks away. Updated on 21 Jun 2023: Sort of hit a wall with the swelling that stopped decreasing. Those salty pumpkin seeds probably didn't help (but I couldn't stop eating them). I also started some light exercise which probably increases the swelling. I researched DIY lymphatic massages and chose what I think is the best and most accurate information. So now I've started adding the massages, followed by drinking a bunch of water before I exercise. I don't know why I'm so surprised at how effective it he as been. I don't feel like the lymphatic system is talked about enough. The swelling is decreasing behind my belly button so it's becoming more of an innie as the swelling subsides. I haven't started scar treatment yet. I'm still just changing the tape once a week per surgeon's order. I feel like that's been the right call though. I think the tape is what's forcing the incision to heal properly and in turn will make the scar milder. It's tape changing day, so I'll post a pic of the incision. I still have stretch marks, but most of them were removed during surgery.

Breast Lift with Implants

Wonderful experience - happy with the youthful results

After losing breast volume due to weight loss, I considered having an augmentation. I started doing my diligence online and found Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery and Dr Malhotra. I wasn't sure if I could get by with just an augmentation or if I would also need a lift, so I scheduled a consultation. I was told for optimum results having a lift with implant would give me the look I desired to have. I even took it one step further and inquired about liposuction being done on my armpit bra fat area since the lift would not "get rid" of my armpit fat hanging out of my shirts and dresses. After going over the pros and cons, I scheduled my surgery! Tammy, the patient coordinator is amazing and was there every step of the way to help me! I was unsure about what size I wanted to go after our initial visit and she said I didn't have to finalize anything until my pre-op appointment, and even let me retry the sizes before making my final decision. Even the day before surgery she answered every question I still had going through my head. My surgery went great and Dr Malhotra has a good eye and pays attention to detail. Today I am 6 days post surgery with very little bruising and healing wonderfully. The pain was very manageable and I took the pain medication mainly at night to help me manage the pain while I slept. Even though it hasn't been a full week yet, I am happy with the youthful results Dr Malhotra was able to give me! I would recommend AAPS to anyone and everyone looking to undergo any type of cosmetic surgery.

In love with my results and wish I had found him sooner

If you're looking to do rhinoplasty and want it to look perfect and natural, please let Dr. Malhotra do it! He's amazing! Im in love with my results and wish I had found him sooner. Loved the entire staff there (especially Tammy) who will treat you like family! I now do botox with them. It's my new favorite place.

Labiaplasty

LP11

I followed my aftercare instructions and everything healed great.

My procedure was painless, I got to watch Netflix while it was performed and I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Ballard and the rest of the staff was amazing. Her technique was great, I'm very happy with the appearance and still have the full sensation of everything.  Right after the procedure once everything wore off it did hurt a lot so I did have to take some strong pain medication but after the first two days, I only took ibuprofen, and then I had no pain. I followed my aftercare instructions and everything healed great. My stitches completely went away after 6 weeks. I would recommend Dr. Ballard to anyone who is thinking about it because I had the best experience.

Ciao, Belly! - Ann Arbor, MI

I am a 38 year old mom of two beautiful boys. They were each well over 9 pounds! I've always wanted a TT with muscle repair after we were finished having children. It's now becoming a reality! I am scheduled for June 2 with Dr. Malhotra here in Ann Arbor, MI. I am excited but nervous. This site has been a great resource. I am a little worried by a few mediocre reviews of my surgeon, but most of these women had multiple procedures done at once. All women who just had a TT were pleased/thrilled by their results. I am not expecting a miracle, the prebaby body is never coming back, but I want to feel good about myself again! Updated on 13 Apr 2016: Today my son's kindergarten teacher asked me if I was "expecting." So glad to know my TT is coming up and hopefully awkward moments like this will be a thing of the past! I worked through some initial doubts after I booked my surgery but feel more certain than ever that this is what I want to do. Updated on 26 May 2016: I can hardly believe that a week from now I'll be saying bye bye to my belly! I'm excited and nervous. Mostly worried about my kids while I'm recovering, my 3 year old has special needs and still wakes up at night! Thankfully we have family coming to help out for 2 weeks, so between my husband and them they should be able to handle it. ???? I've looked at the recommended supply lists and they were so helpful in deciding what it important and what's not. I think I have everything ready. I picked up my meds and some wedge cushions for sleeping. I'm sleeping in my bed, because I like to be with my man at night! Even if I'm out of it, just knowing he's there is comforting! So ready to do this! Updated on 2 Jun 2016: I did it! I was more nervous yesterday than this morning. Things went really smoothly today. The staff at the Allegiance surgery center took good care of me. A they were so nice! My nurse had Dr. Malhotra do her nose job, and he even did a procedure for the the anesthesiologist's wife! So that was a good endorsement. Later this afternoon he called to check on me. A nice touch! We decided to do a very small vertical incision, to help me get as flat as possible. So the whole thing looks like an upside down T. A bonus is it allows for a very low, shorter scar. Dr. Malthotra said if we need to he can do scar revision in the clinic 9 in months or so, but that it likely won't be necessary. I'm in a bit of pain, but able to walk to the bathroom on my own. Mostly just bored! I have one drain which my husband is emptying for me. He's been a trooper. ???? I can't wait to see how everything turns out! This has been a really great experience. Everyone at Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery was so friendly and professional.

Breast Implant Revision

38, 5'7" 132lbs, Muscular, Athletic Build, Wanted XL "Fake" Look. Ann Arbor, MI

I was always flat chested growing up. In 2002 after I got my degree and my "big girl" job, I got my first set of breast implants from a "cosmetic surgeon". I chose saline implants via the endobam (through the belly button) procedure. I started with 325cc on one side and 350cc on the other because one breast was smaller than the other. I was also a bodybuilder. Initially they were great, but in Nov of 2012 I decided to go bigger and went back to the same doctor. I went up to 500cc saline implants with the same endobam procedure. I desired a large, "fake" look, which I never ended up with. The doctor didn't explain much either time and I always felt like they never had time to answer my questions and were always rushed in and out of appts etc. I noticed the implants quickly seemed to drop over the few years, leading up to 2015 when I decided to do a little more research into silicone. I stumbled upon Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery's website (Dr. Malhotra) I was shocked and excited to see all of the different types of implants available and based on the implant, the end result. There was also a overview of different surgery options, explaining placement and scarring risks, etc. I realized quickly , I had never been informed by my past "cosmetic" surgeon of the different options. I made an appointment in Dr. Malhotra's office closer to my hometown (which was nice for surgery and follow up appts) for a consult. Dr. Malhotra and his staff were awesome from the time I made the first call to current, which is post breast implant revision... and doing awesome!!! I met with Dr. Malhotra explaining my desired results and expectations. I wanted what is considered an XL breast implant, 800cc silicone UHP (ultra high profile). This generally achieves the "fake" look I wanted. He explained all the pros and cons and ultimately I did proceed with the surgery and couldn't be happier. He explained everything the other doctor didn't....starting with the fact of a plastic surgeon vs a cosmetic surgeon.... he also explained the weight of an implant at 800cc's and how it needs to be supported amongst other details I had never known. Ultimately I achieved the look I wanted by getting the 800cc UHP implant and acquired the knowledge to maintain the look. Updated on 21 Feb 2016:

Chin Liposuction

lilhum3

Waste of $7,600!!!

I was looking for a new cosmetic surgeon as the one I had is no longer in the area. I decided to choose AAPS based off reviews. When I went there to have chin and jawline tightened, I was offered 2 options. The reason I chose the option I did was 1) it was less down time 2) the surgeon Dr. Lapaine, assured me I would see the results I wanted. My procedure involved neck liposuction with renuvion, which would address tightening the skin. In addition, I got some fat grafting on my face. Fast forward 10 months,...Dr. Lapaine moved so my follow-ups were cut short. No fault to him for moving. The liposuction worked, but I didn't have a lot of fat from the start, just a small pocked under my chin. Now I have platysmal bands and loose skin on my neck and chin, where I never had that before. Also, none of the fat grafting adhered, so that was a waste of $2,000. I was told by Dr. Lapaine they would do touch-ups if I wasn't satisfied with the fat grafting, but he left, and apparently so did that promise. Today I went and met with Dr. Malhorta to discuss my disappointment with my results. When he came in the room, he didn't introduce himself or bother to shake my hand. He stayed against the door and seemed to already have a defensive attitude. He was very dismissive, and tried to tell me the platysmal bands were always there, yet I was a bodybuilder for several years, down to less than 10% bodyfat, and never had those. I researched "platysmal bands after neck lipo" on-line via medical journals and reputable sites (not reddit, realself, and such sites). All information pointed to a surgeon not doing the procedure correctly. Dr. Malhorta's solution to make me happy? I could pay even more money to get botox in my neck to try to soften the bands. Didn't even offer to cover that. I will say he did offer to do ONE treatment of PRP under my eyes because of the fat grafting not adhering, but when I mentioned AAPS's own esthetician said a person needs at least 3 session of PRP to see favorable results, he said they would only pay for one. So, as much as I loved my esthetician there, I will not give one more penny to AAPS. I have given quite a bit of money to them over the past few years. I can now see why they can neve get a 3rd surgeon on board,....who would want to join that team?? Oh, and the two surgeons they have are not well-versed in any surgeries for face or neck, so if that's what you want, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I am.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Botched revision - the shape of my nose was completely ruined

I waited over a year after my revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Malhotra to write this review. I want to start out my review with a little background. I had a rhinoplasty when I was about 18 years old. I just found this surgeon through word of mouth and went ahead with the surgery. Nevertheless my results were amazing. I looked different but my new nose fit perfectly for my face and I had no issues with it up until my early 30’s when I hit my nose pretty hard and heard a crack. Slowly after my nose began shifting and changing shape. But even after all of that I never once had any breathing issues. I knew I was going to fix it one day and when that day came I decided to book a consultation with this other rhinoplasty specilist because he had amazing reviews and I loved his before and after rhinoplasty photos. When I called they said it would be months almost a year just to have a consultation with him and then another 6-8 months for surgery so I went ahead and kept looking for another surgeon because I just wanted to do the surgery sooner, HUGE MISTAKE. I was also looking for a mommy makeover surgeon at the time, in comes Dr. Ballard. I found her belly buttons to be super natural looking. Also she did lots of other procedures that some other surgeons didn’t provide and I wanted to combine them all with a mommy makeover. When I was looking on the same Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery website I found Dr. Malhotra did rhinoplasties and had an ENT background. Although I wasn’t thrilled with all of his before and after photos I felt like he can’t mess my nose up since all he had to do was fix the crookedness of it and I thought how convenient to pick both surgeons from the same practice. So I decided to do my rhinoplasty first with him since I wanted to lose weight before doing the mommy makeover. During my consultation with Dr. Malhotra he seemed nice and so was his coordinator Tammy. He was also pretty quiet and didn’t say too much. I felt like I was doing most of the talking. He barley asked questions. He said I had a middle eastern nose and proceeded to show me some of his work with those kind of noses. I also showed him pictures of his before and after’s that I wasn’t crazy about to kind of avoid making my nose that way but in retrospect he kind of brushed me off. I felt like there were so many red flags that I ignored. Right after paying and scheduling my surgery I found another rhinoplasty review with a girl who had a revision done by Dr. Malhotra and in her review she said she did a revision with him and that she preferred her crooked nose to the one Dr. Malhotra did and she started having breathing issues after. But I thought this was 2 years ago and what’s the odds it will happen to me. I told myself everything will be okay and I’m just really anxious. Basically I went ahead with everything feeling uneasy. On March of 2021 I went ahead with the rhinoplasty. My hospital visit went smoothly and my recovery was also very smooth. The day I went in to remove my splint was a day I’ll never forget. The feeling I had when I first saw my nose. I felt like I was trapped in someone else’s body. I did not recognize myself. I looked so different and NOT in a good way. I was screaming on the inside and smiling on the outside trying not to offend the surgeon. I was thinking this is not my nose and I’m just really swollen and need to wait before I react. I also thought this was a revision so it’s a more intense surgery so the swelling is probably just more than the average rhinoplasty. After I walked out I was too embarrassed to go to the car where my husband was waiting. I did not want to show my face to anyone especially him. I went into the bathroom on my way out and just freaked out! I wanted to scream so badly. I instantly started to cry. I put the bandage back on my face and ran to the car. My husband instantly knew something was wrong and I just started to cry out I think he messed up my nose! I thought I would give this doctor an extra 10 grand if he can just give me back my old nose! My old nose was crooked but it fit my face perfectly. I just knew that no matter how much the swelling went down the shape of my nose was completely ruined. The day after I took the splint off I FELT the right side of my nostril collapse and immediately it looked crooked and uneven to my left side. He made my nose so droopy, eggplant looking on one side and beak like on the other side, also my nostrils are so uneven. Basically it looked like a nose I would fix if it was my natural one. To make matters worse I had zero breathing issues before this surgery and I can barely breath now. When choosing a doctor I was looking for a surgeon with an ENT background so that my breathing wouldn’t be compromised during the rhinoplasty but somehow he managed to ruin it. He shaved down my bridge so much that when I take pictures now from certain angles my bridge looks nonexistent and has this rippling look to it. It looks like my tip is melted into the bridge. I emailed Tammy and let her know about my concerns and sent her pictures of my nose and she basically said it’s too soon and that I need to come in for my follow up and they can help with injections. I knew what she was referring to and I didn’t want Dr. Malhotra touching my face ever again even if it was to help my nose TEMPORARILY. Also I was so angry I didn’t want see him ever again. Months and months passed and the swelling did go down but the shape remained the same just like I predicted and my breathing is still so bad especially when laying down. Also a cyst appeared on the side of my nose that collapsed and it hasn’t gone away. It’s tiny but so annoying. I’m hoping I can have it removed during my revision. If you are reading this review and thinking of doing a rhinoplasty especially a revision go see another surgeon TRUST ME. This surgery was so expensive and the results were botch like. Basically if you choose this surgeon you will have a 50% chance of your nose looking good. So good luck to you and if you are one of the 50% with the botched job I TOLD YOU SO! I started having second thoughts last minute because of all the red flags I’ve been getting but I kept convincing myself that I’m over analyzing everything. Follow your instinct and if you get just ONE red flag keep looking before settling! It’s been almost a year now and I just had my consultation with the other specialist I was first interested in MI and another great surgeon in NYC and both consultations were like day and night compared to the one I had with Malhotra. Both surgeons spent time asking and answering questions. They asked what my goal was and told me what they can do to achieve MY desired results. They pulled my picture up on the screen and configured my nose to what it could potentially look like after the surgery. I feel like the outcome would have been 1000% better if I went in the first place to one of these doctors but now who ever I go with has to work with what Dr. Malhotra left them with. What sucks is the wait for the surgery after the consultation and I’m paying double the amount! Dr Malhotra charges a lot for the work he does so if you can afford him trust me and save up a bit more and go to a better surgeon. I’m also disappointed that I will have to find another surgeon to do my mommy makeover. As much as I love Dr. Ballards work I just don’t want to cross paths with Dr Malhotra ever again! I will update once I get my nose done and post pictures from my very first rhinoplasty up until my last revision.
