What is the meaning of an extended deep plane facelift and neck lift?As many of our well educated patients understand, a deep plane facelift technique is carried out by performing surgical dissection in the plane deep to the SMAS tissue layer and the platysma muscle.As a result of this dissection, ligaments are released in the cheek and the lateral neck to allow for greater mobilization of the deep structures and therefore a more natural result.When the term extended is used to describe the type of deep plane surgery, it means that the dissection is carried out in this tissue plane all the way to the edge of the nose, and the edge of the mouth.
