This Month in Aesthetics: Cardi B Spills Kim K. Plastic Surgery Gossip, Khloé Kardashian Responds to Ozempic Accusations, and More

Every month, we strive to bring you a balanced mix of breaking news (for instance, the procedure that beat out breast augmentation to become the most popular plastic surgery in the world) and advice you can always use, like how painful a brow lift actually is. Invariably though, there’s an intriguing headline or viral post that doesn’t make its own stand-alone story yet is still worthy of a share.

Which brings us here, to the latest installment of This Month in Aesthetics, an ICYMI recap of industry-molding moments that we’d be remiss not to acknowledge—from a talk show host’s breast reduction to recent Real Housewives’ selfies that have people talking.

Celebrities address Ozempic weight-loss speculation

As talk of Ozempic grows increasingly louder across social media (and irl social circles), it seems celebrities who have experienced recent weight loss are feeling the pressure to address how exactly they did it. Many have speculated that Kim and Khloé Kardashian’s thinner frames are the result of using the type 2 diabetes injection, but after an Instagram user commented that it was “disturbing” that the reality star uses the medicine to get “skinny,” Khloé responded, “Let’s not discredit my years of working out. I get up 5 days a week at 6 am to train. Please stop with your assumptions. I guess new year still means mean people.”

And alongside an Instagram post showing off her fit body, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards responded to various comments accusing her of using Ozempic by saying, “I am NOT taking Ozempic. Never have” and “I have never tried Ozempic and this is not from plastic surgery. I did have a breast reduction in May. I’m honest about what I do.”

Still, the responses haven’t stopped social media users from hypothesizing that stars are technically able to deny using Ozempic specifically, because they’re on other forms of semaglutide, such as Mounjaro or Wegovy.

One star who is copping to using the drug? Chelsea Handler—although she says she didn’t even know she was on it. The comedian told Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast that her doctor gave it to her and said, “If you ever want to drop five pounds, this is good.” Handler injected herself, then, a few days later, went to lunch with a friend who asked her why she wasn’t eating and if she was on Ozempic. Handler responded that she was on semaglutide, not knowing the two were the same. Once she realized she was taking a diabetic drug, she stopped taking it, saying it was “irresponsible” to do so.

Sunny Hostin opens up about her plastic surgery

In a People exclusive, The View’s Sunny Hostin discussed the breast reduction, breast lift, and neck and chin liposuction she underwent last summer, saying the choice was a “health decision and a self-care decision.” After she was unable to fit into her gown for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last April, Hostin booked the procedures with New York City board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Ryan Neinstein and Dr. Anna Steve. Though the recovery was “not glamorous,” she tells People, she now feels like “a better version of myself.”

“I thought I would feel shame, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m doing plastic surgery like all these crazy celebrities.’ But I don’t feel shame at all,” says Hostin. “And I hope sharing my story will help more people. If they’re feeling so body-conscious, the way I was—they can do what they need to do to feel better.”

Cardi B reveals that Kim Kardashian gave her a list of plastic surgeons to see

On an episode of the The Jason Lee Podcast, rapper Cardi B said that after getting a botched nonsurgical nose job in 2019, she had no choice but to undergo surgery to fix it. “OK, so how do you decide who you’re going to go to and trust to touch your face and your body? ’Cause I remember the time we were at Kris’ house and Kim gave you a list of people you could call to get help. You didn’t call none of those people?” asked Lee. Cardi responded, “No, I called a couple of people that she gave me” but added that she ultimately went to another doctor for rhinoplasty surgery in 2020.

Why does Kardashian, who claims she’s gotten only “a little bit of Botox”, have a list of plastic surgeon contacts on hand? And who’s on that list? Those are two secrets she may never tell.

Julie Bowen got a tummy tuck after her twins “ripped it open”

Modern Family star Julie Bowen appeared on The View recently and said that she waited over a decade to have a tummy tuck after the birth of her twins “ripped it open.” Bowen, who was pregnant when she filmed the pilot for the long-running sitcom, got the surgery just days after the show’s finale episode in 2020. “So 11 years later, we wrapped on Friday and Monday, I got my [surgery]. They went in,” she recalled, saying she was “laced up like a sneaker” after.

Meghan King shows off the results from her breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and Sculptra

Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King has been refreshingly open about her plastic surgery journey on social media. Days ago, she posted an Instagram slideshow of how her new breast augmentation looks in various swimsuits, before and after photos of her nose job, and video of herself receiving Sculptra injections.

“I’ve always been outspoken about any enhancements I’ve had (this time I wanted the fullness in my breasts back and a little cleavage, and since I was under anesthesia I opted to tweak the tip of my nose for a minor adjustment.) My chest is so wide so it always made me feel masculine on the outside but I felt so feminine on the inside and so decided to do this thing called ‘cosmetic enhancing’ 😉 […] I’d love to look at my body and say, ‘Wow, you’re beautiful just the way you are,’ and now, with the help of a breast implant exchange, a teeny rhino, and some Sculptra to keep my face plump, I do,” she wrote in part. King also shared that she went to Dr. Michael Niccole, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Corona del Mar, California.
