After 12 years on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards knows how to handle a curveball like a seasoned pro. And that’s exactly what she was thrown on last night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, when host Andy Cohen casually asked her, “How’s the breast reduction working out?”
Because it turns out, even though the reality star has talked openly about her past liposuction and rhinoplasty procedures, she wasn’t quite ready to publicly share this latest surgery. “Oh, thank you for letting everyone know, Andy, thank you!” Richards exclaimed, as Cohen covered his mouth in embarrassment. “I thought you talked about it! You told me about it so many times! I’m so sorry!” he said. Richards may have been annoyed, but she played the awkward moment perfectly. “You could tell me you murdered somebody and I’d take it to the grave, but I can’t keep a secret about myself,” she said, before confirming that yes, she had gotten a breast reduction three weeks prior. “I had double-Ds, no implants, I still don’t have an implant, but I went and I said, ‘I want smaller boobs and I don’t ever want to wear a bra ever again in my life.”
Doctors typically recommend taking one to two weeks off after breast reduction surgery and wearing a surgical bra for the first four weeks; after six to eight weeks, patients should feel mostly recovered, and inflammation and swelling will have reduced by about 50%. Richards, clearly eager to go braless a little early, motioned to the full display of cleavage in her low-cut dress and explained, “I have smaller boobs, even though you can’t really tell because they’re swollen.”
Richards will probably think twice next time she goes to text Cohen some private news, but it seems it was only a matter of time before we would have found out anyway. “I’ve never lied about anything I’ve done, and I never ever will … I will tell you everything,” she said to viewers, before forgiving the slipup and moving on.
