7 Celebrities Who’ve Had Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can work wonders to smooth crepey skin around the eyes, make quick work of under-eye bags by removing the lower fat pad, and help you look more refreshed and well-rested. (Not to mention, it can open up a whole new world of eyeshadow possibilities by creating more lid space.) And when done well, eyelid surgery can yield subtle, natural-looking results, which can make it tough to tell which stars have actually had it done.

Unlike breast augmentation and nose jobs, few celebs have spoken up about their blepharoplasty surgery, but those who have have been up-front about the results. With that, scroll ahead for the celebrities who’ve talked about their eyelid surgery.

Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda is no stranger to plastic surgery; the 86-year-old actress has had two facelifts, breast augmentation, and other work done—eyelid surgery included. “I didn’t want to lose my wrinkles. I just wanted to lose the bags under my eyes,” she said in a 2012 interview. “I made sure that they kept my lines.” Since then, however, she’s reached a place of self-acceptance and has sworn off plastic surgery.

Jane Seymour

Until recently, the 73-year-old actress had been tight lipped about her plastic surgeries—but she did open up back in 2012 about her upper and lower blepharoplasties, which she’d had done “years ago,” as she put it. Part of the motivation was her work. “I was asked by photographers if I’d consider getting them done because they spent so much time touching up pictures. It wasn’t a big deal. I went out for lunch the day after surgery,” she said.

Catt Sadler

In addition to a prior facelift and neck lift, the 48-year-old TV host got a blepharoplasty in 2023, sharing her experience in an interview (complete with pictures and a shout-out to her surgeon, Dr. Steve Kim) just three weeks post-op.

After dabbling in noninvasive treatments like microneedling and injectables, she decided they weren’t cutting it. “I knew Botox wasn’t going to fix my sagging face and my little chicken neck,” she said. “I had two kids, I was in my mid-30s. I was on TV every day. And so I was like, ‘Oh, you mean I can soften these fine lines?’ Or, ‘Oh, I can limit the appearance of my crow’s feet?’ It was like, Why wouldn’t I do that?”

Julie Chen

Blepharoplasty can be a divisive topic among Asian patients. “Since I first revealed my surgery on The Talk, the reaction from the Asian community—specifically from Asian women—has been tremendous. Many told me they finally felt free from feeling shamed,” said Chen, who underwent the surgery early in her career, in a 2016 interview. “Others told me they wanted to get it done, but it felt like it was a dirty little secret people in the Asian community didn’t discuss, especially with non-Asians and even with their own family.”

These days, the news anchor and Big Brother host credits the procedure with for helping her look more engaged and interested during interviews. “To this day, I have no regrets,” she said.

Emily Simpson

Not only did Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Emily Simpson share a behind-the-scenes look at her upper blepharoplasty with surgeon Dr. Siamak Agha on an Instagram Story, but she also showed off the results in an Instagram post.

“The area above my eyelid doesn’t have extra skin that droops down anymore. I was noticing in photos (prior to the surgery) that my eyes were disappearing,” she wrote in the caption, noting that all she could see were eyelashes. (She also hinted at a potential giveaway for a blepharoplasty, but that hasn’t seemed to pan out just yet.)

Jill Zarin

Real Housewives of New York alumn Jill Zarin went dark on social media for a few weeks back in 2022—before explaining to her followers that she’d been recovering from an upper blepharoplasty. “I have hooded eyes, but the skin here got looser and looser,” she said in a video posted to TikTok three weeks after her surgery. “It was literally hanging down to my eyelashes, and I finally did something about it.”

She went into detail about her recovery process and showed off the results, which she now loves. “I finally have eyelids back, and the skin is tight,” she said. “You can barely see the scarring.” Next up? Injectables, she said.

Ali Wentworth

Comedian and actress Ali Wentworth was ahead of the social media curve, vlogging about her lower blepharoplasty when she went under the knife back in 2012—long before TikTok even existed. Her videos covered everything from weighing the possibility of complications to the removal of the stitches after the procedure. For her, it was a no-brainer to both share her experience and undergo the surgery in the first place. “I had these bags under my eyes and I looked tired all the time,” she said a few years later. “I would see myself in a movie or TV, and I always looked tired. This was my Moby Dick. I had to get rid of it.
