Im nervous about having lipoma surgery on scalp (optional I know). But it hurts. Scared of excessive bleeding. I am considering surgical removal by a plastic surgeon - on the scalp (radiologist report says its a lipoma, maybe its a hard mass of something else) - Seen many YouTube clips for lipoma surgery and it looks like a lot of bleeding - scared of having blood transfusion or stroke or vessel being cut. Are antibiotics absolutely needed after lipoma surgery, as I thought they only got bacterial infections. Lipoma size is 3.1cm x 0.4cm I think
I had an extremely large lipoma removed from my upper back 16 days ago. The surgeon told me I would come home with a drain tube, but whoever closed for him failed to include it. 2 weeks later, i still have fluid, swelling, deep knots and pain on one side. The incision leaks a bit at one corner. I use cold packs mostly, but have tried heat. I used an antibiotic ointment. I saw the doc last friday. He seems unconcerned.
Lipoma was 8cm. I noticed it was draining. Did not want it to get infected and went in to see the doctor who poked it and of fluid came out. He said it was not infected but can become infected. It was not my regular surgeon so I'm going in again tomorrow to change the bandage because they packed it. I'm concerned because I'm colonized with MRSA and am petrified of infection. Should I be on antibiotics? Did I drain it too late and if formed a pocket? Should I not be walking much?
I'm supposed to get the stitches (above my tibialis anterior muscle) out in the next 1-3 days and I'm nervous that they're not ready to come out & are infected. I'm mostly concerned with what looks like a blood blister on the right side of the incision & the tender knot below the incision. It's still red & sore, but doesn't feel warm/hot and is dry. Does this look infected and unhealed to you? I've been using an antibiotic ointment and taking cephalexin twice a day.
I have had a lipoma for over a two weeks it is now very painful and red. I Keep going to the dr. and they tell me that it's infected they prescribed an antibiotic and I need to wait for the general surgeon appointment in two weeks... No images have been done we don't even know for sure if it's a Lipoma... What can I do..
