QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Hi there, I'm glad that you are working on your weight loss already! I strongly recommend tracking your body fat percentage, since it's the most accurate way in knowing your weight loss progress. If you exercise, you can lose fat and build muscle (which is good! muscle occupies less space and helps burn more fat!), so your scale can feel paused at some weight, but if your fat is going down, it means you are doing good! The second recommendation is to contact a good nutritionist and to improve your physical activity program. With a good adjusted dietary plan, you can start noticing great results, remember that a good diet not only consists of how much do you eat, but the quality of your food intake is also a big deal to the success of your weight loss. Of course, if you have a weight loss struggle background, the diet adjustments, and your exercise plan are not working as well as you wish, I suggest you having a consult with a certified Bariatric Surgeon, the sleeve gastrectomy has shown to be a very effective metabolic procedure in obesity remission and control of metabolic diseases, and if you stick to all of the preop and postop recommendations the impact it would have in your lifestyle will only be a good one. I hope you can find the results you are looking for! -A.L

Hi there! I'm so glad that you have been maintaining your great results since you had your surgery, congrats! And yes, you are right, your body fat percentage can be directly affected by the excess skin, but it all depends on the amount of loose skin you have. Reason why I suggest you have a consult with a certified Plastic Surgeon, so they can recommend the surgery that best suits your needs, taking into consideration your age, your underlying medical conditions, and your goals. I hope you can find the results you are looking for! And congrats again!- A.L

Hi there, I would not recommend having both surgeries at the same time, since after your bypass you will start losing a lot of fat, and this will directly affect your BBL, making you more susceptible to losing all of its benefits in a short time. So I suggest you have a consult with a certified Bariatric Surgeon and wait at least 6-12 months after your Bypass to start doing any plastic surgery procedures. I hope you can find the results you are looking for! You'll do great!- A.L

Hi there, you are a good candidate for a Bariatric procedure, and I know there are a lot of them, like Gastric Bypass, Gastric Plication, or VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy). I suggest you have a consult with a certified Bariatric Surgeon, so we can recommend the surgery that best suits your needs, taking into consideration your age, your underlying medical conditions, and your goals. In your case, I would recommend considering a VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) this surgery will help you to have better eating habits and a healthier lifestyle. At 209 Lbs. and 5'5 the BMI is 34.8 Kg/m2, this establishes a diagnosis of obesity class I, and the sleeve gastrectomy has shown to be a very effective metabolic procedure in obesity remission helping you to achieve a healthier lifestyle. I hope you can find the results you are looking for! You'll do great!- A.L

Hi there, in standards gastric sleeves we usually use a calibrating bougie when cutting, this can translate to cutting about 70-80% of your stomach (depending on the patient), but of course you can discuss this with your surgeon. If you want to remove only 50% of your stomach, we can discuss it with you in your surgical plan and seek the healthiest approach. I hope you get the results you are expecting. You'll do great! A.L

Only Clinc I Would Trust

Dr Ortiz has great bedside manners. Appreciate the time he took to answer my questions. Although it was a quick interaction, I didn't feel rushed. I also appreciated that he knew my history before speaking to me. I wasn't just the next one on the list.

Don’t Doubt Your Self, This is That Best Team for This Journey

I cannot say enough amazing things about my experience. From the moment I began this journey, every member of the team made me feel informed, safe, and genuinely cared for. My patient coordinator, Fernanda, was outstanding—always quick to respond, clear with information, and incredibly supportive. She gave me a sense of reassurance that meant everything going into surgery. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez were phenomenal—not only as surgeons but also as educators. They took the time to explain every step and made sure I felt confident and prepared. Their professionalism, warmth, and expertise truly stood out. The post-op and overnight care was exceptional. The nursing staff was compassionate, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and well cared for through the night. I felt seen, heard, and respected at every moment. Even the kitchen staff played a part in making this experience special. It’s rare to find a team where every person, from medical to support staff, contributes to such a positive and uplifting environment. If you’re considering this journey, I wholeheartedly recommend this incredible team. I am beyond grateful for their care, compassion, and commitment to excellence. They made a potentially stressful process feel smooth, empowering, and even beautiful.

Excellent Care, Great Team!

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Ortiz and all of the staff at OCC! Their process is like a well oiled machine. Everyone is friendly and caring, the facilities are beautiful and immaculately clean, best care I’ve ever had compared to anything in the US or Canada! Would do it over again if making the choice again.

I had an amazing experience

My experience with Dr Ortiz and OCC was amazing and was five-star service. From pick-up in San Diego to surgery and postop they are completely on top of it. The surgery center was better than anything I've been to in the US and the staff is amazingly supportive with wealth of information to share to make you successful.

Excellent experience - this was the best decision of my life

My whole groups experience was perfect. They surgery center was immaculate. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. This is a fine oiled machine. I was completely terrified to go to Mexico to have my sleeve done but I had done 3 years of research on Dr. Ortiz and couldn't find a single negative thing on him. Every other doctor in the states and in Mexico I found things on. This man is the best in the world. My surgery took between 20-25 minutes and the next day I was at the mall getting my steps in. I still feel great 5 days later. I was the biggest baby about this surgery and the staff was so patient with me and some of them have had the surgery and it helped that you were talking to someone that could relate. I will be sharing with everyone my experience. This the was best discission of my life. If I had it all to do over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

Gastric sleeve surgery 1 week post-op - couldn't recommend them more!

I was a little nervous at first, but after researching the doctors and the facility, I knew I was in the right place. I cannot recommend them enough. The entire process was extremely professional and organized. I have had many surgeries and I can say by far this was the best experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was so nice and the facility was spotless. I would like to thank them for giving me my life back.
