Dr. Martin Newman Is a fantastic plastic Surgeon. I went to him in May 2021 to remove my implants that I had for 19 years and give me a mastoplasty lift. He did a amazing job. They look like small implant but there not. They are my breast. Very perky.
I found out last year I had an umbilical hernia that needed to be repaired. I decided to do the tummy tuck too, since I was going to be off work about the same amount of time anyway. So I'm prepping for surgery and the plastic surgeon is drawing his lines on my body and says to me "you have a groin hernia". I'm like no way. I thought they were going to cancel the surgery. 5 mins later he comes back with my doctor who is fixing the umbilical hernia and another surgeon who will fix the groin hernia laparoscopically! So now I have 3 doctors involved! Surgery was 3.5 hours and a complete success. Pain has been really nasty because of the groin hernia, but it's getting easier to get up and move around now 6 days post op. Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Nov 22, 2016 Surgery day. Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Still in hospital. Pain is under control with a pain pump. It's really great because you don't have to wait for them to get around to giving you the drugs. The groin hernia repair is the most painful part of my body. The TT is numb. Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Was able to wash myself in shower. God that felt good! Started getting grumbling sounds in my tummy????????. I coughed today and thought I was going to DIE! The nurse said to hold a pillow across your tummy. It was even worse, whatever you do, don't hold a pillow across your tummy lying down. If you have to cough....drink water or anything to stop the cough reflex and get out of bed and into a chair ASAP!!! If you brace yourself in the chair and slowly try to clear your throat, you can bring up the phlegm easily without The searing pain!!! The ride home was bumpy. Bring a pillow to sit on and one to hold over your tummy. The seatbelt will fit nicely over the pillow. If you have a high clearance vehicle bring a stool. This made it much easier to get into the truck. Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Saw myself in the mirror first time since TT. ???? Updated on 29 Nov 2016: Saw Dr. Newman today. He was very happy with my progress. I have some fluid building up in my groin area, so must start wearing a Faja. Got a compression wrap from the doctor until my Faja comes on Wednesday. Was in a lot of pain again tonight. Felt like a step backwards. ???? Updated on 1 Dec 2016: Now able to get up and down without that searing pain in my groin. Can't believe I'm on the flat side now!!! By the way, those little folded gauze squares taped to my hip really help keep pressure off my drains when I put on my compression wrap. Updated on 1 Dec 2016: Got my Faja today! I feel like a sausage in it. Can't wait for the swelling to go down. Updated on 2 Dec 2016: Saw Dr Newman again today and got one drain out! Yippie. Got ok to wear Faja, so stuffed myself into it and as soon as I had the last hook fastened I had to go to the bathroom. It has a zip trap door, but I only have one to wear and didn't want to chance it. Down came all those hooks and when I got to the bathroom it was only GAS!! :-/ So, needless to say I'm getting really good at these hooks. It feels really nice when I have it on. Kind of a safe feeling. It's hard to explain. Updated on 5 Jan 2017: Loving my flat tummy! Haven't worn a bikini in 35 years! Updated on 6 Jan 2017: Updated on 8 Jan 2017: Updated on 11 Jan 2017: It's week 7 and now I find an infection!
Dr. Newman was my 3rd plasic surgoen after what I called a botched job by the other two. He is a MASTER! If another doctor messed you up, see Dr Newman, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!! Thank you Dr. Newman !!!
About 12 years ago I developed a lipoma on left side of my forehead after bumping my forehead. I went to a plastic surgeon who had me get an MRI prior to removal. He surgically removed it in the hospital as an outpatient. Approx 5 years later it reappeared - went to same dr who this time removed it under local anesthesia in his office. Terrible experience - felt no pain but could feel tugging and pulling. After surgery my left eyebrow was paralyzed for approx 6 months - finally got feeling back in it. Approx 3 years later, it reoccurred. Went to a new plastic surgeon who removed it in hospital as outpatient. Again eyebrow was semi-paralyzed for a few months and my left eye is now slightly smaller than the right. Now less than 2 years later, it is back again. I'm afraid to have it removed again as I don't want my eye to get any smaller. I've been told there are a lot of nerves connected to the eye in this area and it is a very delicate procedure. Updated on 19 Sep 2012: Just as a follow-up to my last post about the recurring lipoma. I was told by another plastic surgeon that it should be removed and it was approx 6 weeks ago. The biopsy this time came back an a-typical lipoma and later diagnosed a sarcoma. Surgeon went back in and cut around margins and this time he got it all. I also had a ct scan of lungs and mri of brain to make sure it hadn't spread. I was told I was very lucky and that these lipomas after 1st excision come back each time with different characteristics. I had 2 drs tell me to leave it alone this time - I'm glad I didn't.
It is sad when everyone who sees your stomach says how bad or botched it looks! He stated from the beginning that he did not believe the doctors on IG get patients the results they post. That it was not realistic and they are most likely photoshopped! It should have been red flag number one.On top of that the only photos I had available to me where from RealSelf. He works out of the Cleveland Clinic and during my surgery (and for no given explanation) I was given an IV in my foot which resulted in a very bad bacterial infection in that foot that required surgery and partial bone loss of my 4th metatarsal. My stomach was like a round ball coming out of surgery. Yes, he cut off my fupa but did not do the lipo that I requested so I am left with a very distended stomach AND bone loss in my foot. I almost forgot my tiny hole of a belly button. I will need more surgery because of this so 1 Abdominoplasty with this surgeon has cost me 2 more operations! I am miserable.
Funny enough, I am not scared. My husband is more terrified about this than I am. I am excited for the procedure because I feel that after it is all said and done that I will be happier with my body than I am now. I respect my body because it carried four children and nourished and fed them. However, the end result is that I still look five months pregnant and the twins/girls are hanging much too low, LOL! Updated on 8 Sep 2013: Ok, so I am less than 12 hours away from surgery. I cooked and froze six days worth of meals for my husband and the kids. Not that I am afraid that he wont be able to feed them, but his specialty is spaghetti and meatballs and I think that after a few days of eating the same thing that the kids will start a mutiny! I am finally starting to feel some nerves. I guess my fear is that the Breast Reduction will be too small. I know that sounds dumb, but when you have been accustomed to carrying around a 36G/H, I just don't want to end up with a 36B or C and be disappointed. I think that I am going to tell him that I want a small D or a really really really full C. REALLY! LOL. Also my tummy tuck is causing me anxiety. He has already told me that my C-section scar is so low that he might not be able to bring the tummy tuck cut that low. He mentioned something about a vertical scar also. Not sure that I understood what that meant.... I just know that I don't want a scar that is too high that I cant hide in my Victoria Secret string bikinis. Hopefully all this obsessing right before surgery is completely normal. :) Updated on 11 Sep 2013: Well, I am home from the hospital. I spent one night and it was rough. My heart rate kept dropping very low because of the morphine pain pump, so that stupid beeping machine kept me up all night. Glad to be home I must say. I have four drains, one in each breast and one in each hip. Hopefully I will get the breast ones out on Friday. I am in a lot of pain, but still getting used to the idea that my boobies got reduced. My belly is swollen and I can't wear a compression garment until the drains come out. I have pics, but it will be a few days before I can put them up. Updated on 12 Sep 2013: Well, I am still sleeping a lot but I find that I am walking a lot stronger now when I do get up. I had my first bowel movement this morning and it made me feel so much better, LOL. Who knew?!!! I am still hunched over but making a real effort to straighten up as much as possible when I get up and walk. But it is definitely easier said than done. I am also going a lot longer between pain pills so that is also good. My husband is going to attempt to give me my first sponge shower today. Hopefully it will go well, wish me luck. Updated on 13 Sep 2013: Well I had my first shower yesterday, if you can call it that, LOL! I got in the shower and my husband soaped up the important bits and used the hand held attachment to wash off. I have to say it still felt amazing!!! I was still freaking out and threatening him to not let the water get on my drain sites, stitches and belly button. I know, I know, but what can I tell ya, fear is fear. Updated on 13 Sep 2013: Updated on 13 Sep 2013: It doesn't look as low as I had hoped but this is what I have now...???? Updated on 14 Sep 2013: So I went for my appt yesterday and was so pleased when he took out the two breast drains. He wants me to keep the two hip drains at least another 5 days. Maybe I will get lucky and they will come out next Wednesday. He is also concerned about that right hip drain that I have been complaining about. He doesn't want it to turn into colitis. Wants me on antibiotics as a preventative. Eeeekk, can you say vaginal yeast infection? I am prone to them if I have to take any antibiotics. What's a girl to do???? Updated on 18 Sep 2013: Just got back from Dr Office and they removed one of the two belly drains. I had been hoping to get rid of them both, but alas, it was not to be. That was such a creepy feeling when they pulled it out. The only painful part was the stitch removal. Otherwise, the tube was just plain weird when it was pulled out. I go back on Friday and they have assured me that the last one will come out. I can't wait because taking care of the drains is such a pain. Otherwise, I feel good. I haven't gotten the dreaded depression spell that so many of my fellow ladies seem to experience. Keeping my fingers crossed. Pain management is also good. I only take meds at night now. I am still walking hunched over especially at night. My skin is super itchy and stretched now. I hope all this stretching on my skin won't screw up my wound healing . Updated on 21 Sep 2013: No more drains! Got my last drain removed yesterday and I feel so much better. I felt so crazy with those things hanging out of my body. I know that they served their purpose but it is such a psychological boost to finally get rid of them. I am now in one of those super sexy hospital issued abdominal binders. Can you say ITCHY!!!! Updated on 27 Sep 2013: Well it has been a little over two weeks and my healing is slowly coming along. Like everyone else by the end if the day I am a swollen mess and can't wait to get into bed. I took some pics today and I noticed something. I think that I ordered the wrong shape... All of you lovely ladies on here seem to have ordered the hourglass shape but I somehow must have told my Dr that I wanted the box shape!!!! WTH! Everyone else has these beautiful curves days after surgery and I have this square box in my midsection. How disappointing. I love my new boobies and I even like the flatness of my stomach from the front and side but this box is not what I was expecting. Does anyone have any experience with this? Updated on 16 Oct 2013: Wow, I can't believe it has been five weeks already. I am still on the mend, but every day I feel so much better. I went for my appoint last Friday and spoke to my Dr about my concerns with the boxy look and he agreed that a little bit of lipo sculpting would help. Of course the downside is that it will have to wait until at least six months because he doesn't do any revisions until then. He wants to wait until the swelling comes down so he can see the final results before going in and fixing anything. Of course I am completely in LOVE with my boobies! LOL!!! They are so perky and just the right size for my frame. I understand now when my Dr said that a BR surgery has one of the highest satisfaction ratings. Yes my breast still are sore and tender and I get a lot of shooting random pain and let's not even talk about the itchin, OMG, but I am still happy!
