I've had my 1st rhino a year ago in Beirut Lebanon. It was great but I ended up with lots of scar tissue and a deviated septum. It is not the doctors fault but it's my body it healed like that. So I went to an ent to see why I can't breath it was the septum so we put a steroid injection to decrease the scar tissue and it did but the breathing was the same. So we scheduled a septoplasty with a revision rhinoplasty to fix it . I went to Dr warren brandes in Sterling Heights . He is very calm super experienced and he knows what he's doing. My surgery took 1 hour and I had no bruises at all (comparing to my first rhino) he even opened one of my nostril that was smaller and made them look even. I only to Vicodin the first night it wasn't that bad. People are saying that he's not a good surgeon but after my experience he's an excellent surgeon I cried when the cast was removed he's amazing. I got my stitches removed 2 weeks after so yesterday and it was a bit painful . Am so happy my breathing is amazing and it looks so feminine now. Updated on 31 Mar 2014: Am loving my result and am so happy with the result Updated on 31 Mar 2014:
I'm extremely pleased with the results and the healing process has been great. The first few days were the worst, especially in the morning, felt alot of pressure in the face and was really uncomfortable. Pain was not bad at all. I had a black eye and some swelling under both eyes but nothing too severe, by the 5th day the bruising was much better as well as the swelling. I found that an ice pack covered in a soft cloth worked great and helped a lot. Sleeping was the most difficult part, try and get yourself a airplane pillow, that will keep your head in place. I got my cast off a week later and then stitches came out a a week after that. I've been noticing changes everyday as the swelling has been going down and its taking its shape. I'm extremely happy with the results!!!!! Hope this helps.... Updated on 18 Mar 2013: Just a quick update....I have been doing great, swelling has gone down even more and nose has really began to take its shape. Still a little numbness at the tip. No problems to complain about. I'm at day 47 post op and feel amazing!! I have always been uncomfortable with my profile. I didn't have the biggest nose I have ever seen, however, I come from a Lebanese family, and inherited the Lebanese nose. Growing up I got picked on here and there for having a bigger nose, so I was always sensative on the subject. I always wanted a nose job, but never thought I would have the guts or money to do it. One day a new girl came in at work and said she had just gotten a nose job two weeks ago. Her nose looked gorgeous and she barely had any bruising. I asked her questions of the cost and how painful it was. The cost was $4,200 and she said there was little to no pain. I must say I agree with her. The only pain I really felt was after waking up from surgery and feeling the burning in my throat where they stuck the tube down. I only needed vicodine the first day for that. Other than that the worst part is all the blood that drains down your throat the first day or two. I can honestly say my belly button piercing hurt worse. I am extremely happy I chose to do this and would recommend it to anyone looking to do so. Of course you need to do your homework and find the right doc. but once you have, it is worth it:) Updated on 20 Dec 2012: Random occurrence: about a year ago I had a horrible smell that would not leave my nose for months. It was making life very unpleasant. Everyone I would ask around me would say they didn't smell anything. Long story short- one night after the shower, I pulled a stitch out of my nose with a pair of tweezers.,.. 2 YEARS LATER! So ladies... if you have a weird smell anywhere from months or years later it could be something like this, so go get it checked out.
I was taken well care of, I am excited to see my results next week, I can already see a little of it and I'm confident it's going to look great. I definitely picked the best doctor to work on my nose!!
I had Rhino/Septo it done 8 months ago and didn't have much expectations. But I wish I had a stronger profile from the side I feel that with grafts using septum and/or ear defiantly will help the gap and give me more natural manly look. My nose before well think of bradley cooper nose but more of a droop and hump and i don't have a masculine face so it wasn't right. I'm glad my tip wasn't touched really just slightly lifted couldn't notice it. I been depressed about it for a while because my side profile just looks too short for what I wanted. I been searching for revision DR and DR. Theodore Golden is probably most popular here in MI did a great job on my friends nose changed his life and also my cousins. 4 more months before i can do it though and will cost 6400-7000. I just hope he can do it. To anyone ever doing Rhinoplasty do research and find a cosmetic surgeon with a great reputation and don't be afraid to spend a lot more. I went to a ENT who does rhinoplasty on the side, thankful that i still look normal because he's messed a lot of noses up. Updated on 30 Jan 2014: Updated on 30 Jan 2014: Updated on 30 Jan 2014: Updated on 6 Feb 2014: I saw my ENT/surgeon today and told him It's been hard breathing through my nose even though I have allergies/sinus which I'm on maintenance shots for, that wasn't the problem. Taking a look he said my breathing trouble is do to some scarred tissue and a bit of collapse i think he said collapse not sure. He will do a in office procedure where it has something to do with freezing the inside of the nose or something. Regardless nose looks ok but in person it looks weak in some areas, i want more profile and protection and want the collapse scar thing fixed. I cant wait until that day.
I did my revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Brandes in February 2008. I had a few cousins who all went to him weeks apart and I made the HUGE mistake of not waiting to see how their surgeries turned out. I was suffering from poor breathing and I wanted to look a little better although that was not as important to me as my breathing. When I met with Dr. Brandes I thought he was very rude and arrogant and had a poor bedside manner but ignoring my gut instincts I figured if he is an actual ENT medical doctor he may do a good job and help me breathe better. I also discussed with him the possibility of improving my nose cosmetically and that was the only time during our encounters that he improved his attitude by about 5%. I'm sure that the additional $3000 I paid him for the cosmetic portion in addition to the medical bill had something to do with it. Before I went into surgery I discussed with him that I do not want any of his students/residents working on me. I already had a complicated case in my opinion and I wanted him to be the only surgeon working on my nose. When I woke up I came to find out that was not the case, he worked on one side and a student worked on the other. Now, 14 years later my nose is even more deformed than ever before. Physically, I cannot breathe. I have 20% capability on one side 25% on the other. A couple of years after my surgery with him I started consulting with other doctors again hoping someone would take my case to fix what he messed up. No one would touch me!! I even ended up going to U of M Ann Arbor and meeting with the chief ENT there. His only solution for me would have been a nightmare and a risk to my life being that he had to graft bone from my ribs to repair the structure of my nose that Brandes messed up. I was told the risks of my lungs collapsing if I proceeded with the surgery would have been great, and at the end of the day, I realized it was not worth my life. I cannot stress enough how bad this doctor is. Please don't suffer the way I did and still am. I wish I had waited to see the outcomes of my cousins. They too are just as bad. Over the years I've spoken to more people who have had the unfortunate luck of being his patients, and it's unfortunate what they have been through also. This man should lose his license!
So I really looked around to see which Doctor is the best for my and I came to dr brandes because of all my friends and family had their noses done by him. Some of them were completely natural and a lot better then before but some were just botched ... The most work needed on my nose is the tip and I feel like that's the part he Isent very skilled at. He tends to make your nostrils different sizes, I've seen that on a couple of noses that was done by him. I am really hoping he does his best job on me, any doctor is a hit or miss I guess it's just the risk you have to take. Updated on 2 Jan 2016: I'm gonna be canceling my appt. I can't go through with this. I found a doctor named Theodore golden and thats who I will be doing my rhinoplasty with.
I absolutely hate my nose! It is too long, it hangs down and a little wide. I have been wanting to get it done my whole life! I finally have my surgery scheduled next week but so scared! I have all these fears like what if I dont like it, what if surgery goes wrong, what if a million other things. Hopefully all goes well and I love it. Updated on 16 Jun 2015: Oh man I am freaking out. I keep thinking should I go through with??? Ahhh I wish I wasn't so nervous but all I can think about is what if I hate it afterwards, what if it doesn't look any different, what if I am in so much pain or something goes wrong! I pray to God everything goes well:{ I will keep updating my journey:) Wish me luck everyone Updated on 17 Jun 2015: i made it!!!! It wasn't half has bad as I thought and I can breath out of nose!!! I had a tiny bit of a sore throat when I first woke up but it's only been 2 & a half hours and I'm already home watching Netflix:) (Orange is the new black season 3) saved it just for this lol. My sore throat is gone, I had zero neausea and the pain is more like a pressure feeling:) the only thing I have cried about so far is someone threw my water out lol! I took 2 regular Otc Tylenol I can't take those heavy narcotics:((( anyways now I just hope it looks pretty?? Updated on 20 Jun 2015: I would say today is the roughest:( the worst part is the breathing out of my mouth I hate it! I snuck and used some afrin spray for some relief and I keep cleaning my nose with q-tips and peroxide. I have had very minimal pain, the only pain mess I have taken is regular otc Tylenol. My nose has been a little itchy under the cast today and for some reason it looks like it's a little to the right:( hopefully that goes away when the swelling goes down. My eyes are a little more black and swollen today but I'm sure that will go down by tmro:) overall it's not that bad. It's kind of like a sinus cold. Updated on 20 Jun 2015: I took my first shower today! Omg a very needed one I must say!! Lol. My eyes seem a little blacker today and even a tiny more swollen. I can't wait to get this splint off my face it is making me crazy. 3 days down 4 to go... Updated on 21 Jun 2015: So today breathing hasn't been really bothering me I got out of the house I even put some makeup on yesterday and today. The dried up blood and scabs inside my nose are so gross:(( eww I swear no one warned me about this! Lol. It's so itchy and I keep day dreaming of my 4pm post op visit on Wednesday. I wonder if I show up at 8am will they see me early lol. Anyways very glad I did this I can already tell I love it. Hopefully once the cast comes off I still will:) Updated on 29 Jun 2015: Today is the day I got the cast off:) That experience was nerve wrecking lol. I was so worried I was going to look different but I don't! I don't like the tip very much. I wish it was smaller. Updated on 29 Jun 2015: These pics are like a week and half post op. I appreciate all the positive feedback you all are so sweet:) I hope ur right about the swelling and the tip! I feel like my columella hangs a bit now:( oh we'll definitely wayyyy better than before:))) Updated on 1 Jul 2015: So today is exactly 2 weeks since my surgery date. I love my side profile but the front view I'm so sure about:( I hate that I feel like I have a hanging columella now. I don't think it's gonna go away either.
Hello I have surgery scheduled with dr brandes but Iam scared to do it because he has not gone over what he is going to do with me or anything. He ordered to do an allergy testing and after that we scheduled the surgery for sep 11. When does he go over with me on what he is going to fix. Please let me know on what I should do. Thank you soo much
