The worst doctor ever! Read my nightmare.

I did my revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Brandes in February 2008. I had a few cousins who all went to him weeks apart and I made the HUGE mistake of not waiting to see how their surgeries turned out. I was suffering from poor breathing and I wanted to look a little better although that was not as important to me as my breathing. When I met with Dr. Brandes I thought he was very rude and arrogant and had a poor bedside manner but ignoring my gut instincts I figured if he is an actual ENT medical doctor he may do a good job and help me breathe better. I also discussed with him the possibility of improving my nose cosmetically and that was the only time during our encounters that he improved his attitude by about 5%. I'm sure that the additional $3000 I paid him for the cosmetic portion in addition to the medical bill had something to do with it. Before I went into surgery I discussed with him that I do not want any of his students/residents working on me. I already had a complicated case in my opinion and I wanted him to be the only surgeon working on my nose. When I woke up I came to find out that was not the case, he worked on one side and a student worked on the other. Now, 14 years later my nose is even more deformed than ever before. Physically, I cannot breathe. I have 20% capability on one side 25% on the other. A couple of years after my surgery with him I started consulting with other doctors again hoping someone would take my case to fix what he messed up. No one would touch me!! I even ended up going to U of M Ann Arbor and meeting with the chief ENT there. His only solution for me would have been a nightmare and a risk to my life being that he had to graft bone from my ribs to repair the structure of my nose that Brandes messed up. I was told the risks of my lungs collapsing if I proceeded with the surgery would have been great, and at the end of the day, I realized it was not worth my life. I cannot stress enough how bad this doctor is. Please don't suffer the way I did and still am.

I wish I had waited to see the outcomes of my cousins. They too are just as bad. Over the years I've spoken to more people who have had the unfortunate luck of being his patients, and it's unfortunate what they have been through also.

This man should lose his license!
