I had lost 80 lbs following the VSG surgery and my breast went from a 38G to a 36D of mostly skin. Pros- bigger and fuller breast, new nipples, lifted well Cons - pain, unable to do strenuous upper body exercises for 6 weeks Outcome - I love my breast!! Updated on 30 Aug 2019: Posting before photo at the hospital Updated on 30 Aug 2019: Day 6, Day 13, and 6 weeks postop
In my quest for perfection, I have checked another modification off of my list. At my heaviest weight, my cup size was a C. After weight loss, it was an A. Dr. gave me high profile saline implants, placed under the muscle, with an inframammory incision. Additionally, I also had a tummy tuck scar revision. Thus far, I have not seen the outcome as my post op reveal is tomorrow. This surgery was by far the most painful. I was literally helpless for the first 4 days. I needed assistance with everything. The pain is worse in the morning, when getting out of bed, and gets better as the day progresses. I have feeling in my nipples. I came home from the hospital weighing 10 pounds more than when I went in. Very swollen! Walking slightly hunched over. As for the tummy tuck scar revision: no drains or compression garment. Burning sensation the first day. No pain since. Just swell hell. I am anxious to find out the exact amount of cc's that he used, and to see my breasts! Updated on 3 Mar 2016: Bandages off today. Doc says he fit in 500cc. I am happy so far! Updated on 15 Mar 2016: Everything is looking good. Stopped taking pain meds. Still very sensitive, especially in the morning. I can tell that the some of the swelling is resolving. The right nipple is far more sensitive. The right breast is dropping at a slightly slower rate, but it isn't noticeable to others. It isn't my dominant side, and it got 30cc more than the left, to correct some mild asymmetry. Still hanging on to 4-5 lbs of the swell (I've done the math: 117 morning of procedure, 500cc x 2 = roughly 3lbs, still weighing between 124-126) More so, I think, because I had the tummy tuck scar revision at the same time. Updated on 15 Mar 2016: I decided to do a before and after comparison pose. I love my new breasts!
35 year old mother of three via cesarean. Lost 110 lbs by diet and exercise. 5'3 117 lbs small frame. Had abdominoplasty with muscle plication, and a floated belly button. If I could change anything, it would have been to express that I wanted a new belly button vs a floated one. (Didn't know I needed to specify, as I thought this was standard with a full tummy tuck) the scar healed beautifully without any complications or dog ears. I would have liked for it to have been tighter. Updated on 1 Mar 2016: I have scheduled a Breast Augmentation and Tummy Tuck Scar Revision to tighten skin laxity on my right side, as well as to pull the mons up, on February 24, 2016. Dr. Blaloc will revise my scar at no charge. Updated on 15 Mar 2016: Feb 24. BA and Tummy tuck scar revision to correct laxity/puff of right side, as well as to pull the mons up a little. BA hurts tremendously, but there is no pain or tightness at the revision sight. Both procedures combined, left me with about 10lbs of swelling. I'm patiently waiting for it to dissipate, so I can asses my feelings for the TT scar revision. Updated on 15 Mar 2016: Healing up nicely. Swelling is dissipating some. As gravity does, swelling will hang around the upper portion of the incision, until healing allows it pass the threshold. All of my sutures are dissolvable. At some point, I'll have to snip the ones that are exposed. I'll wait another week or two for that.
Sorry this is lengthy but I want to give you the entire story of the emotional roller coaster I went through before I did my surgery. So I am a military wife and a mom of 3 wonderful girls. My oldest just started college and my middle one is in highschool and youngest in 4th grade. I devoted 14 years to being a stay at home mother because I firmly believed that my kids needed a full time parent especially during deployments. So I did what I had to do and tried to keep myself in shape at the same time. For the most part I did but like life I had my highs and lows. Once my youngest started school I decided I am going to start focusing on me so,I went back to school and got my degree. I now have a full-time job and work 12 hour shifts in an ER. I am the heaviest I have ever been and gained 30lbs just since starting work and I got up to 190lbs. Fortunately for me my husband busts his butt and we make enough to where really I don't have to work but do just because its nice to have the extra money and feel needed again (that it the mom in me). I decided 3 months ago that I have always talked about getting a tummy tuck and breast lift, but that was it only talk because I could not justify getting it done when I could spend the money on my kids. Now tho I am in a position to where I can actually do it. So I went to see the doctor and booked the date and put in for 3 weeks vacation. About 3 weeks before surgery I got into a huge fight with my husband and didn't know if we would be getting separated or what so I cancelled my surgery. I battled myself on if I should still get it done bc it was the one thing strictly for me. I had always put everyone else first. Well things worked out between me and my husband and I called to see if I could still have the date. Luckily they were able to get me in..YAY..So now the nerves kicked in. Excitement with a little bit of fear and anxiety. I had been on this site and reading everyone elses journey and so I think I mentally prepared myself. So I went and did my pre-op on the Friday before, picked up my pain meds (which I was given Demerol bc of a high tolerance to pain meds) and worked all weekend so time flew. Day of Surgery- Got to the hospital around 8am my surgery was scheduled for 10:30am. Great I get to sit around and be nervous the whole time I thought. The nurses came in did all the blah blah blah inserted IV and said doc will be in soon. The Doctor didn't come in until 11:30am. He marked me where he had to and asked if I had any questions, I just restated what he was going to do and made sure he knew what I wanted. The anethesoligist came in a few minutes later and all I remember is kissing my hubby and them rolling me out to the hallway. I was out after that. When I woke up in recovery I am not even gonna lie the pain was beyond horrible. All I remember is the pain and I was crying. I heard the nurse ask if I needed pain medicine and I could only cry and nod. They dosed me up a couple of times. Now it might have been just because of my tolerance for pain meds why I felt so much pain but I will never forget that. I don't even know how long I was in recovery and I heard something about low oxygen levels or something idk. When they brought me back to my room my hubby was waiting for me and I was just in and out of it. They brought me more pain meds and then let me go home around 7pm I think. Getting in my SUV really sucked. I got home and going up my stairs was a process luckily I have a wide staircase and my hubby was basically able to carry most of my weight. I went into my room and got in my recliner (Highly recommend a recliner I couldnt sleep in the bed for days) took more pain meds and slept. Day 2 PO- Hurting pretty bad but the meds are doing there job. I slept and when I was up I was using the bathroom. Getting up from a seated position really sucked. My husband basically had to lift me up. Slept great I highly recommend a neck pillow too, it supported my neck so I didn't get stiffness. Day 3 PO- Was not in pain really, just sore I could tell that they tightened my muscles for sure, my tummy is pretty much numb thank goodness. I felt gross wanted to shower so bad but hubby wouldn't let me. I tried to get up by myself out of recliner and OUCH...I felt a burning sensation in my tummy...I grabbed the tall laundry basket and used that as a walker lol. My hubby came in and was upset that I didn't call him to help. Sweet thing. I told him I didn't want to bother him. He just rolled his eyes. Day 4 PO- Woke up feeling pretty good and to my surprise there is a walker in front of me. My hubby went out and bought me a walker so I wouldn't hurt myself and so that I could get up and walk to avoid blood clots. Let me tell you, if you are going to have this done a walker is a MUST...I only had to use it for a few days but it took all the pressure off of my tummy area. Day5 & 6- So sneezing and coughing OMG!!! Word of advice grab a pillow and hold it tightly to your stomach. I was asking myself why did I do this is it really worth it? Here is where the roller coaster of emotions start. Day 7- Slept in my own bed finally. I had to sleep on my side with pillows in front of me. I woke up laying on my back. Getting out of bed I felt that burning sensation again ( a few times actually) and my belly button pulling from the inside. I had to kinda roll over [RS bleep] to get out of bed. I have stopped all pain meds, and dont need walker anymore. Day 8- I had follow up appointment I actually drove myself. Doctor said everything looks good, I have some redness around my incisions. He asked if I was using neosporin I said yes and he said stop using it that an ingredient in it makes it all red. He put me on some more antibiotics too just in case. Drains have to stay in a little longer. I hate these drains. Day 9- I was moving around very well no longer need walker, however I tripped over my cat and ouch. Luckily the wall somewhat caught me. I am starting to pick out the flaws now. My incision looks different on the right side then from the left. It looks as tho 2 different docs did each side. My right is flat and low and no stretch marks, whereas my left side the incision is higher up and I think could have been pulled tighter and I still have some stretch marks there. Day 10 - The drains were really starting to burn were painful so I went in to see my PS he took the drains out bc they weren't really producing anything anymore anyways. I also had a stitch come out from my nipple he said no big deal...yeah to him!!! Day 11- Feeling great just some tightness around the incision its hard to bend. I actually was productive did some laundry and cleaned carpets. Slipped going from wet carpet to hardwood floor DUH...that ended my productiveness for the day. Day 12- Did nothing all day gets very boring...I have to keep reminding myself I have to heal from the inside out...My nipples are a little painful, kinda a burning sensation. Day 13- Outing with my girls to get costumes. Wore my jeans for the first time and although still swollen some and the fact I have on compression garment I am looking and feeling great. Incisions are itching and I keep forgetting to take off my seat belt..lol Day 14- Today I decided to tell everyone my journey so far. I should have started it before but I didn't wish I would have. So far I am ok with how everything looks I am still picking out flaws tho. I have to remind myself this is a process and there will be ups and downs. My scale seems to love me the last few days I have lost 7lbs so that gets me excited. We will have to just wait and see. Updated on 22 Oct 2014: So I am back at work now working 12 hour shifts in an ER. I am going through what I think might be swell hell bc I am pretty bloated. My incisions are still healing and I have some necrosis at the T on my breasts. Also my breasts are so sore if I wear a bra. I guess because they are higher up my arms rub against them more now. LOL It also feels like when I breast fed how they would get really tender and sore. I am have issues with the adhesive tearing my skin everytime I change my dressings which sucks. One side I have a stitch showing and the other side is a hole. They are greenish discharge when I change them but are slowly getting smaller. It just looks gross but I know it is just tissue repairing itself. I originally thought they had to dry out to heal but it is completely opposite, you have to keep them covered and a moist so that the tissue can regenerate. Just FYI for y'all. I am moving around great my abs still are sore if I reach up high to get something and I still can really push or pull anything yet and bending over or getting up and down alot gets my incision sore. Well that is all for now.
Very pleased with the experience. Little to no pain. I do feel pressure. Surprised how difficult it is to not reach over my head or lift. Simple household activities suprised me that I couldn't do but my husband and children have been wonderful. Very happy with my doctor and his office, they have made this process very pleasant. Updated on 15 Feb 2014: I love them! Very happy with my results. They seem to be settling in vet nicely. Very natural as I requested. They feel like my own now. I hve learned where to put my arms when I sleep. I still wear the front closer sports bras, no wire. These are very comfortable and want to make sure I give enough time to not create ugly suture scars or buy the wrong siZe. I did not like setting out from working out this long. I hope to attempt yoga this upcoming week , I do miss thAt. The first couple of weeks were the hardest because if the inability to stretch and reach. Basic daily activities were effected; putting away dishes, reaching in the dryer, etc. all of that is back to normal. :). Updated on 15 Feb 2014: I'll try to get current up this week. Updated on 16 Feb 2014: Updated on 16 Feb 2014: In a bra. Small but not to bad. Out of the bra was a deflated mess.
I am 49 years old, 5'2 and weighed 127 the day of the procedure. I worse a size 4 - 6 depending upon the brand. I had two sections with babies weighing 10.5 lbs, 22 inches long, and 9.0 lbs, 21 inches long in 1986 & 1988. Although I wore a size 4 - 6 my stomach always caused me distress. I felt obese. The day before the tummy tuck I filled my pain meds and antibiotics. I purchased Atkins high protein foods (I am a diabetic and eat a high protein low carb diet) I also have Hashimoto's which makes loosing weight a nightmare. I eat 1500 - 2000 calories a day and burn 800-1000 on the elliptical each day. I also workout to Jillian Michael's 30 day shred 4 days a week. I have kept this routine for 15 months. I purchased two size medium, firm-fitting tunics/shapewearers@ Belks (they did not have shorts built in size I find the shorts to be a nightmare). I bought Bali brand instead of Spanx since the two I purchased normally cost $42 each and they were on clearance for $9.99. They fit as snug as a Spanx and I was very happy with the cost and results. I also purchased a package of Hanes "wife-beaters" to wear under my binder after week one. I had known, I would have purchased castor oil or another mineral oil to help with constipation. The constipation during week one was a nightmare, far worse than any sort of pain, and I did not take anything stronger than Tylenol. See below. The day of my surgery I felt great. My daughter flew in from Texas and was my care taker. The doctor came into the room 30 minutes before the procedure and marked my stomach. He had me wear the lowest riding panties that I normally wear so that he could mark my stomach and make sure the incision would be covered. I woke up feeling tired but pain free. My daughter & daughter-in-law said I was loopy and out of it. Day 1: I slept throughout the day except when I took hydro-codeine. The medication made vomit and the from vomiting was nightmare. Far worse than the incision. I knew immediately that I would not be taking the meds again. I did walk for five minutes every two hours in order to prevent blod clots. I had two drainage tubes, that produced 25 cc of fluid or less each day. They came out day nine when only 6 cc of fluid was discharged. Day 2: I could stand up straight without bending, that concerned me. The doctors office called to ask how I was doing and they said it was nothing to worry about. I drank chicken broth throughout the day along with Atkins protein drinks. I took Tylenol every four hours for day 2 through 4. The Tylenol caused unmerciful constipation. I still waked five minutes but changed it to every hour. Day 3-4: Tylenol every five to six hours, chicken broth, protein drinks and walking. Why am I not in immense pain? Why can I stand up straight? Day 5: No pain killers. Walking ten minutes each hour. Day 6: F/U the doctor left the drainage tubes in since the color was still reddish. Although they were draining less than 10 cc of fluid each in a 24 hour period. At this time I started wearing the "wife-beaters" under the binder. The incision looks great. Day 9: Drainage tubes were removed! Yay!!! I feel great, like I never had surgery. Day 14: I spoke to the doctors office and was given permission to walk. I walk five miles a day, 2 1/2 in the morning and 2 1/2 in the evening. Day 25: F/U with PS. Everything looks great. Still swollen. The left side does not curve as much as the right side. This may be because I am still swollen or my hips are out of line. I wear size four the sixes are two large in the waist, stomach area. I asked the PS about using the elliptical and was given permission to use it as long as I take it easy. Day 26: Started using the elliptical 40 minutes and burned 450 calories on level 4. I am going to keep it at 450-500 until week six and I will up it to 800-1000 again. Updated on 11 Sep 2013: I would love a BBL next year. How much body fat does one need to have this surgery? Updated on 11 Sep 2013: As you can see, I had very little bruising. I do hope that the lower abdominal area gets smaller. I am not sure if its fat or swollen. I also wonder what type of exercises will help with keeping the shape, I would love six pack abs but I am not sure if that is possible since having the surgery. My other concern is when I went to my pre-op appointments I was told to suck in and that I would be as small as that; well, I am not. I can still suck in a good 1.5 inches in my upper abs. Should I be worried? Updated on 13 Sep 2013: Binder: I wear the binder 12 hrs & my shapewear the other 11.5 hours. Sleep: I started sleeping on my sides but noticed bruising so I stopped. I sleep fine on my back. Exercise: I workout on the elliptical for an hour. Diet: continuing with my high protein low carb. Myfitnesspal app indicates between 1200-1300 calories for the past week. It's an amazing app and free!
My Doc was great. I'm in pain, but day 1 it's not awful yet. Anesthesia likely wearing off, and I had no appetite until 13 Hours post op. I vomited slightly. It hurt my muscles, but I didn't feel anything pop or move, other than natural contractions of a belly while puking. I'm not in pain now, but I'm concerned. How common is this? Updated on 23 Jul 2013: I'm recovering better than expected, but I am uncomfortable. I learned by day 2 to side-roll up off my bed (thanks to a fellow peer on this site) and have been mobile. I was even able to stand and do do dishes briefly. If I tried I could stand upright, but I don't want to stretch anything I'm not supposed to. So I have a slight bent back, which is normal, if not preferred from what I've learned on here. I will say day 4 (night of day 3 really) brought about change. It brought on the bloat. I've sponge bathed, but not removed the white binder from my core, and it feels comparable to when your arm is compressed within the blood pressure equipment and squeezed to its fullest, right before the nurse releases the tension and releases your arm. I feel like my belly wants to explode out of this thing. Post-op check up is Thursday. Hopefully I can get some pictures up for the community that day. Hopefully Doc says all is well. Updated on 26 Jul 2013: Feeling good... Taking it easy and avoiding sodium! I'd say the hardest thing is getting out of bed. Once up I'm ok. Showered today for the first time! I have a slight bloat but it could be worse, and I have the infamous hunch, though that too is improving. The worst was that I was brave and had a cup and a half of strong coffee and it gave me a slight belly ache, but good news is healthy BM! Those are a little rare at the moment. My hubby wrapped me up like a mummy, but I included a gauze photo and a couple with my body wrap. I'm happy to report the TT removed my tummy stretch marks and infamous BB frown, however I guess I am stuck with my thigh stretch marks. Updated on 27 Jul 2013: Snuck up b4 hubs and undid his mummy wrap for better pics before swelling. I'm 5'8.5, lowest adult weight 143, I weigh 140 this morning! Yay!! The tape he used was atrocious. You'll see some marks near my bb - that was the tape!! Not using that medical tape anymore. I do still have thick sterile gauze over pubis (under underwear) from having drains pulled. Doc had gauzed them and they had gotten stuck together... Highly recommend sterile gauze that's no-stick. Anywho, hope these are better! Updated on 3 Aug 2013: Up earlier than I want to be, so I'm dragging a little. Prune juice for BM has been key and swimming in water (drinking lots, not literally swimming). I've been eating as healthy as I can, focusing on lean meats, greens, and yogurt. Some dark chocolate as needed. I can do more, but need rest after. Heads up all! We can all get through this with a positive attitude. :-) having a kitten lounging on my chest during post-op rest may have helped, too. Lol. Here are this morning's photos. Updated on 3 Aug 2013: Front and scar which is healing crazy fast. Updated on 9 Aug 2013: Hello ladies. So the first two weeks I really never felt gross. I hope not to scare anyone, but going back to work this week changed that. Sitting, even for just five hours, has left me bloated and misshapen. I know this is temporary, but I really feel the more time one is down and resting the better off their results. I am on my period, and I snuck a whopper jr., no mayo or cheese yesterday. Other than that I honestly have nothing to blame bloat on other than sitting upright. In the mornings I still look great. Flat. I'm going to share some post-work pics so you can see the difference. My cg was on but didn't seem to help. I'll also be happy when the stitches flatten out on my hips. Updated on 11 Aug 2013: Hey gals. So you all saw the circus of horrors I posted on Friday. I want to share what a weekend of rest has offered. We even went to Wally yesterday for a couple of hours. I swear by lots of water, prune juice, coffee, lean meats, fiber foods, and am trying turmeric. Updated on 15 Aug 2013: Updated on 15 Aug 2013: I'm using these as jammies, but could also be a slip. Updated on 16 Aug 2013: Week 4 today - doc says spanx only. Omg no more cg. I think I'll keep it for comfort times. These are at kohls just like my nightee. Hope you guys consider the sale. These do clip at crotch.
I knew I had to have a tummy tuck before I lost the weight. I was around 250 lbs and my son was already 2 years old so I finally got my butt in gear and lost weight. I just had a tummy tuck, and breast lift and breast implants done 18 days ago.I'm 5'7 23 years old and before surgery I weighed in at 139 lbs. I saw a doctor back in January and he was too expensive so I gave up. My dad actually found this doctor and I loved him and he was about 5,000 less then the other guy and had over 20 years of experience under his belt. =) Updated on Nov 16, 2009:
Had a c section in 2001 that left me with an ugly saggy sac . Had a small waist but couldn't let my shirt come up for fear of letting my sac show. Hung over my vagina, but it's gone now! I wanted to be carefree about my body and not have to worry about what was showing. The doctor took care of me and I'm excited to see how it will turn out.. Updated on 29 Jun 2017: It's been two years. Still HAPPY with my decision, not happy with the scar though. Looks like I have tabs at the end. That's the only way I can describe it. They actually protrude a little bit. Also the area above my stomach, under my breast has always looked puffy since the surgery. Kind of like a bird?
I learned of and read about Dr Blalock here on real self and followed up asking questions around town. I have already had my consultation, picked my size, and made my appointment for my surgery. I'm flooded with emotion but mostly excited. Pre-op Monday and Wednesday is the big day. I'll be updating soon after. Updated on 23 Mar 2016: I had my breast augmentation done today. Arrived at Tennova at 7am and was quickly taken back by the sweetest of nurses. Dr Blalock was there to see me shortly before 9 and we were off to surgery. Everything went great except I got sick from the pain meds (I don't do pain meds well) and I was home by 1pm. I have a lot of bruising and swelling but the pain isn't to bad for now. I'm just using ice packs and am going to try to avoid the pain meds. Vomiting hurt pretty bad. I do not advise you to not take your pain meds. Do what the doc tells you. I have a crazy tolerance for pain that may get me threw this without them. Updated on 31 Mar 2016: I feel good. A lot of the soreness is gone. Still a little uncomfortable and the incision is itchy but it's just healing. Updated on 2 Jan 2017: The final product at my 6 month appointment was a major disappointment. The assemetery issue was made worse. They are not the size or shape that I wanted. He suggested a breast and nipple lift to correct the nipple issue that he did in the office while I was awake. I would not suggest this to anyone who has a weak stomach or doesn't want to see your breast laid open. This brought the nipple up and somewhat made them look even until the other breast started to swell and lift up to the top of my pocket. I went back and he said it just settled high. He wasn't interested in listening to the fact that it had only done this days before. He said to press on it and if it isn't better to come back in 3 weeks. I'm at 4 weeks and beyond frustrated. I think I am going to get a second opinion before I go see him again. Updated on 28 Mar 2017: It's been a year since I had 425cc saline, over the muscle in my right breast and 375cc in the left. Assemetry issues were supposed to be addressed during surgery and when the problem wasn't corrected, he did a nipple lift in the office. My breast are still very different sizes and shapes. Today I was anxious to see what he would do. Another surgery of which I have to pay for. He didn't make one of the pockets open low enough leaving one implant very high while the other settled in lower. Now, another $1700 to just open the pocket and fill the implant more or $3200 and he will replace them with larger ones(my breast are no where near the size I wanted and look nothing like the picture sizes I picked) and open the pocket. I'm so very disappointed and upset with these results. If your in Clarksville looking to stay close to home....go ahead and make the drive to Nashville and find a good surgeon.
