Some years back in time, when I first met Dr Peter Sylaides, a very well know, respected and active volunteer of my parish, it never crossed my mind, that a day would come, that will find me in a desperate need of his expertise. That day, came for me on the 23rd of March 2019 in a form of a very close call. God spared my life in a very ugly motorcycle incident (wearing an open face helmet) and left me with multiple facial fractures and an almost completely wrecked face. Picture on the left is myself the day after ( 4,5 Hours of emergency response surgery including way over 300 sutures and at least 3 cauterisations ). From that point Dr Sylaides took control immediately and since the incident happened overseas, he collaborated with the medical team in Greece, planning and coordinating every single step of my recovery, in the most professional way while abroad. His communication skills, along with his worldwide reputation amongst the medical community, made it easier and I was quite surprised from the helpful response and care, I was receiving from everyone upon the hearing of his name. In the record time of two months, my recovery was in a stage, that allowed me to fly back to Adelaide and be in the hands of Dr. Peter Sylaides. His calm voice, along with an holistic approach and situational awareness, inspired the sense of safety and trust inside me, which is still present till today. Professional from the very beginning, he responded, he planned, executed and followed up every single surgery, great or minor, following cardinally the check list he initiated. Under-correction than over-correction, revaluation and final touch, are his principles that detect his holistic approach My expertise and the level of my medical knowledge doesn’t allow me to become more technical, so my judgement is only based in my experience and of course the results. As a character and due to my military training, I’m not very easy with compliments. But if my review looks like a tribute to Dr Sylaides, you are right, IT IS. And that is because he deserves way more. This guy gave me back, not just a fixed nose or a corrected smile, but a face to live with. For that, I am very grateful to him and very thankful to life that we crossed ways with such a gentleman. Finally, for the people that might wonder, NO it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to get back my face. Picture on the right, shows me as I am today, waiting for the final touch and in everybody’s disposal so you can judge by your self.
Dr. Peter Sylaidis is brilliant at his job I have been seeing him for around 5 years and have never had a problem with him. He treats you like a real human being and explains things to you in a way you can understand and feel comfortable with him. I would highly recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. He’s a caring, patient, competent and all round good person who goes out of his way to help his patients. - DC
Dr.Sylaidis completed my Rhinoplasty in November 2018 and I couldn’t be happier! I had a large dorsal hump, my nose was quite long and it was slightly crooked. He completed a natural look and I love it!
Hey peeps, my name is Kelly & I am 22 years old! I just recently had rhinoplasty done and decided I would share my journey for those who are looking to get it done and need help with their decision! I will give you all a brief description on my first night/day after my surgery, the day the cast comes off, and a couple weeks and months after that too- I obviously don’t want to bore you with ‘every single day’ haha, so I’ll give you all a few days here and there! I’ll post all my photos that I take of my recovery- so be aware that some of them will be quite ‘gross and confronting’ before opening them up :) also I have 0 makeup on in any of them and my hair is tragic, sorry ;) I live in Adelaide, SA. I was blessed with an Italian background, which don’t get me wrong I absolutely LOVE! but with that, I was lucky to also get a typical wog nose. For those who have this same problem & are okay with it, i’m happy for you, own it. But for me I’m super unhappy with it & have wanted this for ages!! I chose to go with Dr. Peter Sylaidis from Adelaide Day Surgery, as my surgeon. I found out about him through an acquaintance and used this website to do my reviews before booking a consult with him. In October 2017 I had my first consult with Peter. You go in, get a 3D image created of yourself and peter then uses this image on his computer to make changes to it to show me I guess an example/estimate on what he could try to achieve with my nose. He was very honest about his opinion and what he could do, he didn’t sugar coat anything for me and made me completely aware of what I was getting into. Peter aims to keep noses more ‘natural looking’ and claims it is much better to under-correct than to over-correct. You can always go back and make some more adjustments to it later it, which of course is easier if it’s been under-corrected. I feel comfortable with him and believe I am in good hands. His assistant Marion is lovely and made me feel comfortable about the situation also. I left the consult feeling good, but also a bit worried as i wasn’t 100% happy with the 3D image I was given. I showed family and they gave me their opinions, and decided I needed to go back in for a second consult. In my second consult I talked to peter about my worries with the image and he replied on the best way he could, also reminding me it’s an improvement on what I have and nothing is going to turn out ‘perfect’. So with that I decided to book in my surgery, I’m happier with the look of my nose in the 3D imagine than what I currently have on my face, so i didn’t have a lot to lose. May 1st 2018 is my surgery day. I had to fast from 7am in the morning, and my admission time is 1pm. I didn’t wake up early to eat breakfast before my app, silly me, because I’m a hungry girl right now haha, my fault. I have spent most the morning in bed, I haven’t been super nervous about this at all leading up to today, and even still while I’m at home waiting for time to hurry up, I’m still not ‘overly’ nervous. I’m sure that will change once I’m in the building with nurses surrounding me haha! So operation time, it was a little nerve racking and went pretty quickly, I woke up feeling a bit of pain and surprisingly could breathe through my nose. The lady gave me pain relief which made me feel a lot better. About 30 mins after waking up I moved into a chair and ate some crackers and half a sandwich which I did easily. Not long after that I started to feel very ill in the belly and nauseated, which the nurses reminded me that’s normal, it could either be from swallowing a lot of blood during my surgery or the anaesthetic. My ride home wasn’t very fun as it made my nausea feel even worse, once I got home I jumped straight into bed, waiting for this sick feeling to go away while sipping on lots of water. Ok lovely’s so my first night... It was definitely a challenge. I find anaesthetic messes with my body a bit, and makes me feel quite nauseated afterwards, so spent the first half of my night feeling super sick in the belly.. I had minimal pain on my face- which was great. I had only eaten a few crackers and cheese + half a sandwich all day after my app which was 5:30ish. So around 9:30 I was getting a little hungry but was really put off food because of the sick feeling in my belly, I ate a piece of toast with peanut butter on it -which I forced myself to eat. After that I went to bed because I felt too sick, about 20 mins later I sat up because I felt even worse and threw up ‘a lot’ into those bags the hospital give you. That made me feel so much better in the belly... BUT caused my nose to bleed quite a lot, and hurt. Day 2 Not much has changed pain wise today, but I’m a lot more congested today and my eyes are starting to bruise and swell up. My nose is all stuffy with dried up blood, mmmm! As the day went on my face got more puffy, which is causing it to restrict against the plaster more & is making my head feel very heavy. I’m getting some uncomfortable headaches here and there, but still no actual pain towards my nose. Day 7 Today my cast comes off and I’m super anxious because it’s all so real now and I’m scared to see what it looks like underneath this cast, which I can no longer hide under. But also excited to see how it looks too, and to be free of this heavy annoying cast that’s making my face feel claustrophobic haha! also how congested my nose is too! Okay guys! Cast is off, took the nurse basically 10 minutes, peter came in in between and had a quick look and feel, told me it looked good but not to be alarmed by the appearance as it’s still quite swollen. It wasn’t painful at all having the cast taken off and stitches taken out, was more of a relief than anything else. Had a look in the mirror, look like I’ve been beaten up haha, I’m happy with how it looks considering how it looked to begin with. It is very swollen still (especially my tip) so I’m just taking that into account when I look at my front profile. My side profile looks a lot better now, still swollen, but better! I’ll post up some pics again soon when I actually have makeup or something on to give you guys another view of it, instead of my scary zombie look! Also as weeks go on, so you can see the changes in the healing process :) Hope my review helps people! Have any questions, please ask! xx
Dr sylaidis has brought back my confidence and I will be forever grateful. I had a primary rhinoplasty performed by Dr Zacharia in 2016 and he ruined my nose and removed my columella. Dr sylaidis did my revision rhinoplasty yesterday, I didn't need a cast on so I can already see results and I'm over the moon even with the uneven swelling. He got my columella back and the round fullness back in my tip. I only wish he'd done my primary surgery!
I felt comfortable immediately with Peter. I had a tattoo on my arm removed in two stages. I had been quoted roughly $8000 at a different surgery and was clearly not happy about that and sought out Dr Sylaidis for a second opinion. He did both surgeries for under $2000 as he said having a general anesthetic was not necessary as previously advised. He was careful and considerate and did everything possible to leave me with as little scarring as possible. I have no hesitation recommending him and kudos also go to the lovely staff at APSA
I'd always hated my nose since I was young. It had bump from side on, and was on the 'larger side' I suppose. No one else really noticed, but I did. So when I was able to afford it, I went ahead. I'd spent a long time researching the procedure for a few years until I couldn't hold out any longer. I'd chosen a surgeon who I had seen reviews of, and I'd emailed them about prices and what was involved with a basic rhinoplasty. A year later I booked in with them. I flew to Adelaide from Melbourne with a friend. I was certain about it all, I had my consultation on the Monday and had my theatre appointment the following day. I was excited and nervous. I knew that my new nose would be an improvement no matter what. I hated my old nose with a passion. I had 3D photo imaging done in my consultation so my surgeon could manipulate it to show me how my nose could look. I really liked what I saw. The procedure was over quickly. I woke up after what seemed like no time had passed, and I was in a fair bit of pain initially, the nurses gave me something and I went back to sleep for about 45 minutes. I woke up again, the pain completely gone (and I didn't get this pain ever again). I flew home a few days later, and after 7 days I had my cast and sutures removed by my GP. I was so swollen and bruised, but I could already see a difference. My surgeon had told me it takes a while to settle and there may be numbness in the tip for a long time. After the swelling started to settle, I fell instantly in love with my new nose. My side profile was now perfect to me. My confidence has gone up a lot, and I feel more at ease. My rhinoplasty was fairly basic, and it has had a massive impact, and the difference I can see is amazing.
Since was 19-20 years of age, I have always wanted to get a breast reduction, so six years ago I have been around to see a fews other surgeon but non of them makes me feel like they are the right one to do it. In Sept 2014 I said to my self I'm going to meet one more surgeon and if i still haven't meet the right one then I will let it go.. So I booked an appointment to see Dr Sylaidis and he was great and gave me the honest opinion what i should do and how he going to do it to reduce the size and makes its look nice and perky. So I have decided to go through with the surgery. Have to say until today I'm still very happy with the result, even though i still have scar under my breast but if I'm so concern about it i can go and laser it off, but it doesn't border me and love my news boobs and won't change a thing:)
I'm a 32 year old guy from Adelaide, Australia. I've never have been happy with my side profile so I looked into a Rhinoplasty. With the help of this website I selected the surgeon I wanted to use. I chose Dr Peter Sylaidis from Adelaide Plastic Surgery Associates. He is very professional and I'm confident that he has done a good job. I had my surgery yesterday at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital. I cant rate this hospital highly enough. The staff are lovely. Updated on 1 Feb 2015: Just a small update. Swelling around the nose has increased and is now beginning to decrease. Both my nostrils were completely full of dried up blood. The only way to breathe was through my mouth. As a result I now have a very sore throat because it dries out during the night. I was told to sleep upright so that excess blood doesn't flow into my nose. Its not very comfortable and I'm only getting about 2 hours sleep per night. Thankfully some of the blood blocking my nose has fallen out and I can breathe though my nose again. Updated on 24 Feb 2015: Been a while since I updated this. I thought I'd put up a pic of my old nose and then I'll take some of my new one. I'm a month in now and the tip of my nose has a numb/tingling sensation. It can be quite annoying at times, like when you want to wipe your nose. My airways are still slightly blocked but its getting better. The bruising under my eyes is gone but the is still some puffy areas that are still swollen. Hopefully they will continue to shrink down. I'm trying not to worry about revision surgery too much because I've still got another two months before I go back to see the doctor and anything can happen. I hope I dont have to though. Updated on 24 Feb 2015:
Hey girls / guys! I am a 23 year old female living in Adelaide. Currently around 29 hours post rhinoplasty and feeling phenominal! I've decided to post a review because I had a great experience with my surgeon Dr Peter Sylaidis and am completely blown away by what i can see of the results! My rhinoplasty consisted of removal of my bump and a tip refinement. My nose is currently taped in a plaster cast, which you will see in the photos, with just the tip left exposed. From what i can see so far, it looks absolutely beautiful and has far exceeded my expectations of the procedure. I can't wait to get my cast off next week and will post more photos on the day! Going through the rhinoplasty was not overly painful in my experience, there was some shocking discomfort as i was waking up in recovery - but i was given immidiate pain relief by the nurse who was looking after me. Since leaving the day surgery about an hour and a half after my surgery I've had very little discomfort. For pain relief I've been taking panadol and nurofen every six hours and have found that to be more than adequate. Will post front view and profile photos on here next week as soon as my cast comes off!! Can't wait! :D Updated on 27 Feb 2014: Woke up very swollen this morning, which was a bit of a shock! Took a panadol & a nurofen which brought the swelling right down with in a half hour. Feeling some discomfort from my nose today because the swelling has tightened my skin, it's put a bit of pressure on my healing nose. In the surgery - i did have my nose broken to move the 'walls' in - so thinking thats a big part of why it's so tender. Overall I'm still feeling pretty good - really looking forward to getting my cast off and seeing the whole thing :DD Updated on 2 Mar 2014: Just got my cast off - and i absolutely loveeee my new nose!! It's still very swollen and Dr. Sylaidis said that I would see changes in the shape of the nose over the next couple of weeks / months as the swelling reduces. I can see that the tip and bridge are very swollen, but i am MEGA excited about the shape i can see underneath and how it has accentuated my eyes and lips :) My next follow up appt is in 3 months time, and by then I should have a better idea of my end result. I will keep posting pics here on real self so you all can see the changes in shape as the swelling goes down. any questions you have - feel free to leave me a comment Updated on 28 Apr 2014: Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I've done an update - It's been been a busy couple of months since my surgery! So here's where I'm at if your curious.. It's been roughly 2 months now since I had my nose done and I couldn't be happier with the result! My nose is structurally and aesthetically perfect now, it looks very natural and compliments the rest of my face beautifully. I can feel that the tip of my nose is still swollen which may take a few more months to subside but over all its feeling great, i'm actually surprised at how quickly it's healed. I'll include a photo so you can see how it looks. As the swelling decreases I can see more and more definition in the tip of my nose, it's very exciting! If you live in Adelaide and are contemplating this procedure I do recommend a consultation with Dr Peter Sylaidis at APSA - he is extremely professional and has a very high standard of work.
